46 | LIFE IN SOLERA | AUGUST 2024 | THE HEAT IS ON! Therefore we are starting to play Pickleball around 7 am on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Please come join us, but remember to bring plenty of water to drink AND wear the proper court shoes — NOT running shoes. Watch a couple of YouTube videos and then come join us. Many of us bring extra paddles; so if you want to try the game before you buy a paddle, we will lend you one for the morning. You will find us to be a very friendly group. One of those friendly people is Martin Grahl. He shared the following information with me so that you might know something about him and maybe make a connection. Before immigrating to the United States, I was chief engineer of EMI capital records in South America, headquarters in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1980, I was contracted by CBX of Los Angeles and moved to the United States. I started as a project engineer for several projects for CBX, including fixed and mobile projection facilities in South America and the US. I was on the design team for the 1984 International Broadcasting Facility in Hollywood supervising the entire installation. Aer leaving CBX in 1985, I worked as an independent engineer, completing projects in Los Angeles, including the rebuilding of KWHY in Hollywood. I also helped develop new facilities for Sunset Post and Producers Post, as well as working on projects at 20th Century, Fox, Warner Brothers and MGM Studios. In 1989, I cofounded CheSystems, Inc., where I was the president and Chief Executive Officer until 2003. During that period, small and large projects were done for over 40 companies in the field of broadcasting and entertainment facilities in the US and international countries. My best client for 27 years was Paramount Pictures. In October 2006, I started a new company, Signal Integration Technologies. I sold the company in 2016 and decided to retire. I was living in Glendale, California and moved to Solera soon aer retiring. e activity that I most enjoy here is Pickleball because it is healthy and fun to play. Playing Pickleball allows you to work on your balance, agility, reflexes, and hand eye coordination without putting excessive stress on your body. It is a wonderful alternative for older players who used to play tennis. e rules are very easy to learn. So, if you're looking to bond with your family or have an outing with friends, new or old, Pickleball makes it easy to do just that and gives you the ability to fit in a fun workout.
