FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2024 55 Quilting Enthusiasts In the last Breeze, I mentioned a little bit about the upcoming quilt show. Here are the details: Sept. 15 from 10 am to 2 pm in The Lodge Ballroom. There will be a beautiful Dresden Plate quilt with two matching pillow shams that will be our "opportunity quilt." One can purchase six tickets for $5 or a single ticket for $1. Please be sure to check out this beautiful quilt. The pieces were donated to our quilting group and Jeri Sorenson completed the top, Carol Young did the machine quilting, and Ana Michelson completed the hand quilting on the second sham. You ask what size this beautiful quilt is … it's about 100 x 100. The picture of Jeri holding the opportunity quilt doesn't do the quilt any justice. It's absolutely beautiful! In addition to looking at this beautiful quilt, we will have many "interactive displays" explaining hand quilting, machine quilting, t-shirt quilts, and how to layer a quilt (the steps involved, hand appliqué, machine appliqué, and quilt blocks made from wood). We will have at least two - three vendors, one being TrishTacSew - Quilt Shop and Sewing Classes from Palm Desert. We are hoping that you will invite your "quilting friends and family" to come see the show. I think, I'm not 100 percent sure the Bistro might be offering a "Brunch" special that day. Please watch for details on the boards and in the Activity Postings and emails. Remember, we will be focusing on memory quilts, t-shirt quilts and there will be some "two sided" quilts on display too. Come check it out! This is Karen Reed showing her latest memory quilt, made for a dear friend. The fabrics are all from her friend's late husband's Aloha shirts. This is a must see quilt as the back is beautiful and unique. Penny Key created this beautiful patriotic quilt for the "Cars & Coffee" Veteran's chance in November. I love this quilt, and Penny did a fabulous job. Whoever wins this quilt in November will have a wonderful quilt to love and cherish. Penny, excellent choice of design. Hope to see you all at the quilt show. Remember, Sunday, Sept. 15 from 10 am to 2 pm. The members will be there to explain the patterns, and show you the back of the quilts, just look for the "white gloved" volunteers! Piece through quilting. ~ Mary M. Moody-Cox, (808) 430-7469 Crafty Cardmakers The Crafty Cardmakers meet on the second and fourth Fridays of the month. We make three all-occasion cards and you only need to bring your own glue and scissors. The cost is $10 to cover materials. Your cards include envelopes and will be ready to mail. We have a wonderful group of participants and would love to have you at our next class. If you would like to be part of the group, call or email me with your name, phone number, and email address and I will add your name to our monthly email list. If you plan to come to class, please RSVP by the Tuesday before the class so I will have enough kits for everyone.
