FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2024 57 As I write this article for the Spin 'n Slam Table Tennis Club, it is currently 105° in our wonderful community. And that is not even the forecasted high temperature for today. As we head into the dog-days of summer, I cannot think of a better way to escape this insufferable heat then to head to The Courts Multipurpose Room and join friends in a competitive game of table tennis (and, yes, in some circles commonly known as ping pong). With the rare exception of clearing The Courts space for early morning yoga, or to accommodate another community club who may need the room for a few hours for an event, the three ping pong tables are set up on the f loor every day until they lock the doors. Whether you are just a beginner or have been playing in your garage or basement since second grade, you are always welcome to join in. There is always a large supply of ping pong balls and paddles in the kitchen drawers, or if you're really feeling your oats, feel free to jump on websites such as Paddlepalace.com or Megaspin.net and get yourself a $250 professional setup. The Spin 'n Slam Table Tennis Club meets every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 10 am in The Courts. Of course, you are welcome at any time if you want to get a really good workout when its 105° outside. See you at the tables. ~ Bob Rubenstein, brube88@gmail.com Hello all, hope your summer is going well and you're staying hydrated. Due to summer heat, you can catch us playing at 6 pm. All are welcome. If you prefer a private lesson, just contact me. Congrats to Daniel Wulf (at left) on winning the 2024 Pop-Paddle Tennis U.S. Open Men's Singles that was held in June at the National Pop-Paddle Tennis Center in Venice Beach, CA. Hope to see you on the courts. ~ Lizzie Gallegos, ecgallegos@outlook.com Paddle Tennis Spin 'n Slam Table Tennis Club Bocce Ball is played on Tuesday and Friday at 8 am at The Summit. This starting time is our summer schedule. We try to finish before it gets too hot. Within the last few months we have gotten a lot of new players and, with the regular players, we have a great group of people. If you are interested in learning the game, please join us. If you have any questions, please call or text me (840) 234-6494 or email me hanknegrete16@yahoo.com. ~ Hank Negrete Bocce Ball
