| THE COLONY NEWS | AUGUST 2024 | 3 From the Desk of Gregg Ross, Vice President Hello. It should still be July by the time this is distributed, and summer is in full swing, with barbecues, vacations, travel, and trips to the pool. Family is visiting and just all-around summer fun. Even the Board meeting was on vacation in July! We are all volunteers along with the committee heads and members. We all work together along with the HOA staff to put on the meeting. We typically have an agenda setting meeting, Executive meeting and then the Board meeting. This all takes time and different people, but many are on vacation, and it just makes sense to have a break in July. Same with December, a perfect time to take a break with the holidays, travel, vacations, visitors, etc. Now we all still have committee meetings that we attend. Those are, of course, less formal, and many times people switch around to fill in where needed. No weeks pass without some hands-on duty! July and August are also the time most people are thinking about Board election candidates and who to vote for. That time sure comes around quickly! The candidates have already thrown their hats in the ring. Do your due diligence. Read their resumes and candidate statements. Try to tune out the hearsay and innuendo. Do your own work. People have opinions, that is fine. Some even think everyone wants to hear their opinions. Opinions are just that, opinions. Not objective but subjective. It is as one sees it through their lens, whether skewed or not. The Colony is strong, and we all trust your judgment. For all the new residents who have moved in since the last election, welcome. I was at the June 25, 2024, new homeowners orientation. Lots of new faces. Stay involved in your community. We are all in this together. We all want what is best for our community. Everyone, have a safe and fun summer. See you all around the community, whether at events, meetings, activities or on the courts. Don't forget, we have The Colony wave here, always acknowledge a resident as you drive by. Annually in April, at the start of the new fiscal year, residents receive a coupon book for the payment of HOA assessments. For homeowners who pay by check, you must write your account number on the check, and mail it along with coupon to the following address: PCM/Associa, P.O. Box 51412, Los Angeles, CA 90051 If you bring a check into the HOA office, staff must look up the account number, write it on the check and mail it to Texas for processing. This effort takes time, and delays the processing of your payment. If payment of HOA dues is not received by the 15th of the month, it is considered late. This delay could result in a late fee, late interest charge and potentially a reminder fee. The HOA strongly encourages residents to mail their check directly to the P.O. Box with the coupon, sign up for ACH (Automated Clearing House or pay electronically through their bank for faster processing. To pay by ACH, or electronically, please see the HOA office staff to initiate the process. Please note that beginning in March of 2025, the Association will no longer provide coupon books unless specifically requested, and will no longer be accepting checks in the onsite offices. If requested, the homeowner will be required to pay a fee for the cost of a coupon book. Process for Paying HOA Dues
