18 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2024 | Sun Lakes Committee Reports Hello August. WOW — you're always HOT. This year we can honestly say hot hot hot! August is often seen as the last hurrah of warm weather and is widely considered the end of summer. Not here at Sun Lakes, we're just getting started … I call it Happiness Happens Month. Don't rue the August heat — burst your boredom; summer isn't going anywhere just yet. Adjust your thermostats at home and come out and keep cool at the club. Before I get into the haps, I want to mention to you that as of this writing, our Lounge renovation is on schedule and on budget. The Sandwedge Bar & Grill is open and our Restaurant is also open. Call for reservations: (951) 769-6654. Now, check out all of the wild August happenings… There's lots to do and enjoy with neighbors and friends. If you're new to Sun Lakes, come on down and make new friends. Enjoy a cool drink or cocktail and the solitude of a beautiful sunset from the Veranda. In addition to August being National Golf Month, Thurs., Aug. 1 is National Girlfriend's Day. Fri., Aug. 2, International Beer Day — check out our special beer flights. Sun., Aug. 4 is National Friendship Day, National White Wine Day, and chocolate chip cookie day. Try a warm cookie with a scoop of ice cream. Thurs., Aug. 15 is Lemon Meringue Pie Day. Fri., Aug. 16 is National Rum Day — try one of Sun Lakes creative rum drinks including Sun Lakes delicious and refreshing rum-infused root beer float. National Baby Boomers Day is Aug. 17 … are there any Boomers living here? I think so. Come on out and celebrate. Aug. 22 is National Burger Day — Chef makes a great burger or enjoy our mini-slider burgers. On Aug. 26, celebrate the 19th Amendment. I vote to bring all your gal pals out to celebrate. No glass is permitted ever in the pool area. Our pool area is monitored and patrolled. Please be courteous, respectful and follow SLCC rules while at the pool. Did you know if any glass gets in the pool, or a child has an accident in the pool we all suffer having to close the pool down for maintenance? It's not just costly and time- consuming, but is unfair to us all not being able to use the pool. Make sure to always accompany your guests to all SLCC venues. Enjoy our lively weekend Veranda entertainment. Remember, there is beer and wine service at the Lobby bar (next to the Library). If you haven't already, meet Angel; her energy is catchy and she keeps everyone upbeat and rocking. SLCC spectacular Brunch is always the last Sunday of the month. Call for reservations: (951) 769-6654. Until next month, surround yourself with positivity, love, laughter, good friends, family and enjoy peace in your heart. ~ Carole Elliott Restaurant & Lounge Advisory
