32 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2024 | Sun Lakes ICC Dinner/Dance will be held Thurs., Aug. 8 at 5:30 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. The Dinner/Dance group is about connecting with old friends and meeting new ones. It is a warm and comfortable evening of dining, music and conversation. We welcome new members John Treichler, Elaine Majors and Fred Richmond. In August, American Made will be our musicians. They play dinner music during our meal, romantic slow songs, fast songs, and line dancing. We are so happy and congratulate Rene Riviera on receiving his professional dance certificate. He will continue to offer free dance instructions before the dinner dance for those interested in becoming more graceful with their dance movements or learning some new steps. The lessons begin at 4:45 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom, just prior to the dinner. All are welcome to join the fun. There are three choices for the main dish, salads are pre-plated and desserts always delicious. Each month we celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. Claudia Shwartz, Carol Rhine, Bill Osretkar, Jack Burnham, and Vivian Damjanovic celebrated birthdays. Celebrating anniversaries were Ralph and Marilyn Yates, 62 years; Marv and Marty Steggell, 61 years; and Ed and Diane Avina, 58 years. An exciting addition to our evening of fun was the 50/50 drawing. Tickets were sold for the drawing. Four tickets were drawn; winners were Lana Mascorro, Bruce Brown, Anita Lawrence and Roy Gobel. Sign-ups for the dinner and dance are held on the first Thursday of every month at the South Clubhouse beginning at 4 pm. Meal selection will be made when you sign-up. The three-course dinner price for members is $30 and $32 for guests. The doors opened for the lessons at 4:45 pm, dinner and dance at 5:30 pm, and the night of conversation, dinner, and dancing ends at 9 pm. Give yourself a gift, come join us for a night of fun, good food and relaxation. Membership for 2024 is $25 per person per calendar year. A "try before you buy" opportunity is available for Sun Lakes residents who have not been members in the past. If you miss signing up, contact Donna Leone at (951) 797-0832 no later than the following Sunday afternoon. If you are unable to attend the event after signing up, you can request a take-out meal box. Contact Ann Hoefert no later than 2 pm on the day of the event at (909) 553-3292 and she will make arrangements for you to pick up your meal in the Bus Room at 7 pm on the night of the event. ICC Dinner Dance Club Country Western Dance Our line dance lessons have paused for the summer and will restart on Mon., Sept. 23. During the dance year, our club meets every Monday night from 6:30 to 8 pm in the South Clubhouse. During each lesson, we review the dances we learned in previous sessions and learn one or two new dances. Experienced line dancers and quick learners are welcome to join the club anytime during the year. Beginners should plan to join the class when it restarts in September 2024. Club dues are $20 per year and there is a fee of $3 per class. The Sept. 23 class will be free for everyone. The Sept. 30 class will be free for those new to line dance who could not make it to the Sept. 23 class. If you have ever wanted to learn to line dance, our club is for you.
