| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | AUGUST 2024 | 29 Although the Bocce season is over and we do not have sign-ups until next spring, we still need to recognize the players who made this year's Bocce games a lot of fun. For the month of July, we featured our winners who won 2nd and 1st place. For this August article, we need to tell you about two ladies who did something very hard to do in Bocce. The strategy of Bocce is to throw a smaller ball called the polino past the center line of the bocce court that is 91 feet in total length and then throw a larger three pound game ball to try and get very close to that yellow ball that was thrown first, or actually roll up to it and touch it and stay there without being knocked away. There are two different teams on the court trying to score and is referred to as the red ball team and the greet ball team. If the red team threw and it touched the small yellow ball, it must remain for that round of playing, if not then it is not a Bocce. The two ladies pictured holding a yellow polino, and a red playing ball did that very thing and were the only ones for this season. We recognized them both at our Bocce Banquet and would like everyone to see who did something very hard to do. Holding the yellow polino ball is Cathy Brunetto, and holding the red three pound playing ball is Lorina Duncan. Both of them managed during the regular games to throw their ball and touch the small one and had it stay after a total of eight balls thrown out on the bocce court. Way to go ladies. ~ Ross Brunetto, Bocce Chairperson, (951) 926-8295 Bocce Good day fellow oenophiles!
