SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | AUGUST 2024 17
By Mary McKernan, Resident
Solera Diamond Valley water volleyball players invited players from
Golden Village Palms RV Resort for two hours of active, competitive
fun in our indoor, temperature-controlled pool. Common, safe,
and adaptive rules were shared between teams. Thank you, Dana,
for constructing new score displays. We extended our court lines
to accommodate eight players. Being the home team, we had more
players that rotated in with the change of serve. After a short warm-
up, we allowed the visiting team the first serve.
Having played together for years, SDV players had an advantage
over the visiting team that play at a more recreational level. After
playing for 90 minutes we decided to eliminate actual scoring of 15
and just alternate serves. There was constant laughter, some crazy
rallies and a whole lot of splashing. Their representative, Robin,
texted the following day, "Thank you, we all went to dinner last night
and talked about it a lot. We had a blast. We'd love to do it again.
Maybe you guys can come to our place next time."

Be the reason
someone smiles today.
If we can't see
eye to eye,
Let's try
heart to heart
Because that's what Kindness is,
It's not doing something for
Someone because they can't
But because you can.
