With the end of summer closing in, it's never too early to start anticipating holiday projects, decorations, and parties. How can we, as a group, incorporate what we love to do into creating something new for the holidays? As often happens, someone will come up with an idea for our next make 'n take. Speaking of which, at the end of July we coerced Debbie Brown into giving us a tutorial on beautiful bow making. We had inside information that Debbie is quite proficient at creating beautiful, fat bows, so while she was absent one meeting, we nominated her to be our next instructor. When she was made aware of this, she kindly agreed to accommodate us. The best part of this particular project was that it required very few supplies. Ribbon and pipe cleaners were all we needed. As we twisted and looped our ribbons this way and that, we finally were able to get the hang of this fun new skill. Debbie was very patient with us novices and even showed us several diverse bows to make. We had loads of fun trying to replicate the gorgeous ribbon designs she produced. Thank you, Debbie! As space only allows for three photos, I hope these (below) are representative of our efforts. I wish I could include all the pictures of the bows I snapped, as there were so many gorgeous ones. We will meet five times in September on the following dates: Sept. 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. We meet from 1 to 3 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room, with the exception of the second Mon., Sept. 9, when we will meet from 11 am to 1 pm. Our birthday lunch will take place on Sept. 12 in the Main Clubhouse Restaurant at 11:30 am. If you are curious about our group, contacts are Elaine Perkins at (951) 334-3119 or Sallie Flesher at (951) 902-9768, or just peek in during one of our meetings and say hello. We're always happy to share what we're currently doing.
