| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2024 | 3 As we head into fall, we look forward to cooler weather and the opportunity to get outside and enjoy the many wonderful amenities we have here in Sun Lakes. If you look around our community you may be surprised how many things are going on that you may not be aware of. Have you tried WWW water weights workout, Monday through Friday, 4 to 5 pm in the South Clubhouse pool? Or — this one is a real secret — volleyball in the Main Clubhouse pool at 8 am Monday, Wednesday and Friday. And, finally don't miss an Evening on the Veranda with Renee (see page 16), who will be doing her final show of the year Sept. 4 from 5 to 8 pm. To find out more about the many activities going on in our community, check out the calendar on the SLCC website in addition to the Lifestyles Magazine. The Master Board recently approved a governance document for our association. The document will ultimately contain all of the policies used for the governance of our Association. The manual contains the current standing performance standards, values and expectations of the Master Board. The policies contained in the manual, provide a set of standards and specific performance expectations of the Master Board, the General Manager, and others involved in the governance; for example, Board- appointed committees. In general, the governance model will charge the Board with focusing on strategic/goals rather than administrative details. The document contains "job products" which prescribe specific performance standards for the Board. It also proscribes (prohibits) the General Manager from violating certain financial standards described in the document. The complete governance document is on the SLCC website under community information/projects/ current projects. Several projects have been completed or are in progress to enhance your enjoyment of community amenities. They include resurfacing of the North Clubhouse pool, spa and decking; and refurbishing the South Clubhouse including resurfacing, painting, installing new f looring and a new automatic door. The biggest project going on now is the Lounge expansion. The new Lounge will have a redesigned bar with additional bar seating, a new bartender prep station and a larger service window into the Ballroom. The wall between the Lounge and the Restaurant has been removed to give the Lounge a modern, open-concept look and feel. The whole Lounge is being repainted and new f looring will be installed. The new Lounge will have all new furniture including couches, cocktail tables and a removable stage. In addition, the new Lounge will have an all-new audio system and a few more big-screen TV's. Lastly, the Board and Management are working on the 2025 budget. There will be a member workshop in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom on Sept. 18 at 3:30 pm. Please mark your calendar and plan on attending. "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." John F. Kennedy Bob Walter, Randy Robbins, Beverly Simmons, Gary Burkel, Don Day From the Master Board
