| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2024 | 45 Stroke Recovery Support Group This group is designed to reach out to recovering stroke survivors. We meet to share our stories of varying degrees of success, a sense of being understood, and of optimism for the future. Join us on Sundays from 12 to 2 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Call Barbara Searcy for more information at (951) 663-3382. Caregiver Support Group Our next meeting and support group will be on Thurs., Sept. 19 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. There is no guest speaker this month. For those of you considering attending but you're not sure if this group is for you, let me tell you a little bit about us. The beginning of our meeting is the educational portion when we present a new subject to the group. Members can share their experiences and have an opportunity to ask questions and learn from others. This month's educational portion will include pertinent information about driving (auto or golf cart). It becomes a big problem for a caregiver to deal with this when it's no longer safe for their loved one to drive, and he or she wants to keep driving. A few time-tested tricks will be presented to the group. Sometimes we have a guest speaker during this time. The guest speakers are people from organizations that have information that is of value to the caregiver. We also have a program in the Arts & Crafts Room for your loved one. We care for him or her while you attend the meeting. We offer live entertainment, exercise, games and just plain fun. No one is forced to participate. Thank you to Tin Man's Heart, the husband and wife duo who are so generous with their time and talent, for entertaining last month. This month we are excited to have Willie Dave entertaining. If you have any questions, would like to learn more about memory loss, or would like reading material that we can loan you, call Diane at (951) 765-7460, Doug at (360) 840-5559 or me Anne at (951) 845-8700.
