| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2024 | 57 Certain months for our Tennis Club calendar are more engaging and dynamic than others. September 2024 will be one of those months featuring our recurring schedule of activities, including: 1) First Saturday of the month Mixed Doubles – 8 am skills session; 8:30 am – Mixer (free, balls provided, open to all Sun Lakes residents regardless of one's skill); and, 2) Mon., Sept. 16, 6 pm - Skills Clinic for intermediate levels led by Pat Carter (Pre-register with a limit of 12; Cost - $2 or $5 for non-club members). September will also feature two special events. First, a Barn Dance Blast will be held at the South Clubhouse on Sun., Sept. 15. Western dress is encouraged. A brief quarterly meeting at 5 pm will precede the party. This event is open to all Sun Lakes residents and their guests. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. When signing up to attend, you are invited to indicate your favorite country western song(s) as part of the playlist for the evening. Catered BBQ chicken is on the menu followed by a generous display of desserts. Music, dancing, great grub, and fun games with prizes promise all who take part a really good time. Second, the last weekend of the month, Sept. 27 - 29, will feature our annual Mixed Doubles Tennis Tournament. Tournament play will take place starting Fri., Sept. 27 at 5 pm, Saturday at 9 am, and final championship play on Sunday, starting at 9 am. At the close of the Sunday competition awards will be given, and hot dogs will be served on the patio of the South Clubhouse.
