| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | SEPTEMBER 2024 | 9 Library Committee This year is flying by! Even though the weather may still be hot, thoughts begin turning toward fall and cooler weather. In our home, it's time to begin gradually changing the inside seasonal decorations from summer to fall. Your Four Seasons Library also goes through periods of change, including the puzzles having been moved into the Lodge Computer Room. Please check them out! Some other changes in your library include the addition of four beautiful dark wooden bookcases behind the couch. These recent acquisitions are now accommodating our collections of Bibliographies, Non- Fiction, Large Print, Classics, and Religion books, all identified by the colorful stickers on their spines and the labels sitting on top of the bookcases. Most of these books aren't new to our library; they were simply residing behind closed doors under the paperbacks. Try as we could, most residents were hesitant to open the doors and explore these books. Now they are openly displayed in the bookcases to be read and enjoyed. Library committee members look forward to many more such books being donated by our generous residents who like to read beyond fiction about people in the news (from then and now) and topics of public interest. On the practical side, the variety of books with Large Print help neighbors who need to see larger type to read more comfortably. The Classics are favorites from the past, not bound by date ranges. Our Religion section is smaller but perhaps just what you're seeking. YOUR book donations can help these sections grow. In addition, there should now be two new lovely revolving bookcases at either end of the paperbacks (dated 2020 to the present) on the right side of the library. The left revolving bookcase now holds our wonderful Resident Authors' books which are identified by a pink dot on their spines. Be sure to look up at the top shelf on the left side to see pictures provided by some Resident Authors. You can ask library committee members to identify the pictures for you. Let us know if YOU are a Resident Author; please donate the book(s) you've written to the library. If you enjoy public speaking, ask us for information about our Resident Authors' talks to discuss the possibility of sharing some of your experiences with Four Seasons residents. Remember: Even as seasons change, your library is always there for you. Come visit! ~ Betty Crase Facilities Committee Here we go again. A year passed and it is time to write my article about what we do here at the Four Seasons Facilities Committee. A casual visitor would have no idea about the effort and attention it takes to run and maintain a community of roughly 1,200 homes, a Lodge with all the amenities, miles of roadways, and hundreds of pieces of equipment. The Facilities Committee, together with other committees, does an outstanding job in keeping our community attractive and functioning. The largest and most visible ongoing project is probably the road maintenance. Our Homeowners Association is working with the very reputable AMS Paving company that uses advanced materials and the latest technology to ensure the quality and longevity of our roads. The community is divided into sections, the roads are surveyed and schedules are created. According to the degree of degradation, one of three different treatments are being applied. Specifically, we're talking about Crack Seal & Seal coat, Remove & Replace, and Overlay 1.5." The preceding terminology is self-explanatory. An important part of the Facilities Committee's job is to track expenses and make sure we stay within budget. To that purpose, the HOA uses a special financial-planning software. There are funds set aside each year for road maintenance, replacing equipment after the scheduled lifetime expires, and for many other necessary expenses. This software makes it possible to look into our financial future and work out our options. Among the numerous projects I would like to discuss, the Fitness Center Equipment Remodel that is currently in planning. Glenn Uhley and Tim Polder are working on it and will hopefully please many of the Fitness Center users. Four Seasons Hemet residents: please do not forget that the Communication Form is still available http://fourseasonshemet. connectresident.com.
