THE CREATIVE SPOTLIGHT: LOUISA MARTINEZ I've enjoyed several different kinds of crafts over the years, but my favorite is plastic canvas needlepoint. My Mom introduced me to plastic canvas needlepoint when I was in college. I loved stitching on the flat plastic canvas that didn't stretch out of shape while you stitched! This hobby really took off after I got married and had children. I subscribed to Plastic Canvas! magazines. The more I stitched, the more patterns I found that involved cutting out shapes and stitching them together (similar to sewing patterns). This allowed for three- dimensional items and lots of creative ideas. One of my favorite things about plastic canvas needlepoint is how easy it is to personalize projects for people and occasions. If someone has a favorite color, sport, hobby, theme, etc., you can usually find or adapt a pattern to make something special for them. I don't stitch regularly these days, but I do enjoy displaying some items in our home throughout the year as the seasons change. | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | SEPTEMBER 2024 | 25 Four Seasons Creative Group The Art Group: Royce Jerman offers "Painting Pals" on Tuesdays from 10 am to 1 pm and "Beading Buddies" on Wednesdays from 10 am to 1 pm in the The Lodge.
