26 | OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2024 | e wait is over. It's time to start rehearsing on Sept. 5 to prepare for our Holiday Concert on Dec. 8 at 2 pm in Abravanel Hall. It seems like forever since we have gotten together to share the joy of singing. I'm a newcomer to group singing as I haven't been in a chorus since 5th grade when I went from a high soprano to a bass in about two weeks. e nun who was the chorus director told me that they didn't need the sound of a frog singing in the group. So, I retired until I moved here and joined because my wife told me that the chorus had 27 women and four men and they didn't mind the sound of a frog in the group, plus they needed more men desperately, so I joined, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I found out that I love to sing, and I love the camaraderie of the other members. It is like a close-knit family group. And it is open to you if you would like to participate. ere are some truly gied singers in the group and some like me that can't really read music and were once accused of sounding like a frog. But we all have fun and the performances come out pretty darn good because of everyone's love of music and our love of singing. Rehearsals are on ursdays from 10:15 am until 12 pm usually in Abravanel Hall. If you are interested, please stop in and have a listen and sing along if you like. You just might find that It's pretty amazing how satisfying the experience is.
