Our Actor's Studio twice monthly workshops in The Colony Auditorium have been so much fun! Greg Bennett, our technical advisor, has been doing a wonderful job explaining all the aspects of what is needed in lighting, sound, set design, and stage management. You wouldn't believe what goes into producing a show! Greg's sessions start at 6 pm. Chuck Gordon, along with Lauren Tyson, have presented some fun acting sessions. We are learning what is needed for both speaking and non-speaking roles. You don't even need to have acting experience to participate! Chuck begins his sessions at 7 pm. On Monday, Sept. 23, we will present "tech night" to make sure all technical aspects are in place for our Showcase. Instructions will be given to all our actors by Greg Bennett, Chuck Gordon, and stage manager Donna Matteucci. Our Meet and Greet Showcase will take place on Monday, Nov. 4, in the Auditorium; the time will be set at a later date. All residents are welcome to come see what The Actor's Studio is all about. Find out about our next full production in March 2025! Remember, you are encouraged to come to our sessions even if you have no theatrical experience. We meet on the first and fourth Mondays, 6 pm for technical and 7 pm. for acting. It's never too late to learn something new! We hope to see you — our regulars AND new faces — at our next workshop! | THE COLONY NEWS | SEPTEMBER 2024 | 27 Ticket sales for the 2024 Variety Show on Saturday, Oct. 12, and Sunday, Oct. 13, will be on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 10 to 11:30 am in the Annex, and also on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 10 to 11:30 am in the Annex. Tickets will be $15 per person. Seating will be cabaret style with tables for eight, and with one check per person accepted for one to eight seats at the same table. Numerous checks from friends and neighbors brought by one person will not be accepted. To be fair to all others waiting in line, it is first come, first served and a maximum of one table per night, or you can purchase tickets for both nights, separate checks. NO CHILDREN UNDER EIGHT PLEASE. All checks are to be made payable to The Colony Players. If we do not sell out on Sept. 24, there will be a final make-up day on Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 10 to 11:30 am in the Atrium. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.
