| LIFE IN SOLERA | SEPTEMBER 2024 | 39 GOLF CLUB Our first game in August was an Individual Net Score tournament. Congrats to Stan Whitesel who led the way by taking first place with a net 69. He also won the CP on hole #3. A single stroke separated those that finished second, third and fourth. Rod Fry shot 71, Stu Osborne shot 72, and Manuel Magdaleno fired a 73. Nice playing, guys. Other CP winners were Osborne and Bob Umeck who nabbed 2 of the 4 par 3s. Wrapping up play in July was Individual Stroke A and B Flights - Throw Out Your Two Worst Scores. Kelly Bock had quite a day. He took first place in the B Flight Low Net with 5 under par. He continued by taking first with the fewest putts (30) and he made an eagle 2 on hole # 10 when he holed his shot from the fairway. Congratulations Kelly! Other winners in the putting contest are Dave Sampson, Ernie Salvador and Fry. John Dockery was A Flight low gross first place (+7), Bob Ardis placed second (+8). In B Flight low gross, Magdaleno (+12) and Stu Osborne (+13) took the top two spots. In A Flight low net, Gary Stange finished first (+3) and Umeck second (+7). You read about Bock winning B Flight to begin this paragraph and Marty Anderson (-2) took second. The fourth week in July's Lone Ranger game had all golfers withstanding the heat and humidity and posted some fine gross scores by Dave Scott 76, Umeck 77, Dockery 80, Mike Davis 81, and Tony Smith 81. The first-place team was Dockery-Magdaleno-Salvador-Glenn Bradd at 14 under par. A stroke behind in second place, goes to Scott-Bob Marks-Brad McDuffee- Blind. The CP winners were Bradd 4' 3", McDuffee 12' 6", Armand Silva 8' 3", and Salvador 9' 3". July's Two-Man Best Ball Skins was the game and there were lots of Birdies (5) in the Gross Skins with the teams of Ardis/Mendez, Umeck/Ed Young, Davis/Jim Karalun, Silva/Bock and Dave Duncanson/Fry netting birdies while Net Skins produced 3 Eagles by Stange/Bradd, Silva/Bock, and Jaime Maciel/Anderson. CPs went to Marks, Ray Smith, Umeck (5.5 inches oh so close to getting that free beer for everyone) and Fry. The second week in July's game had two flights with the Low Gross winners, Scott for A flight and Craig Martin for B flight. There was a three- way tie between Dockery, Duncanson and Magdaleno for first in the A Flight Low Net. In the B Flight Low Net Jesse Mendez took first. The closest to the pin winners were, Anderson, Umeck, Scott, and Duncanson.
