| LIFE IN SOLERA | SEPTEMBER 2024 | 27
The Solera Sippers went on a musical
journey into our youth (and maybe our
parents' youth) in August with our "Name
That Tune" event. What a fun night.
Frivolity was in plenty of supply for this
lively evening.
Our September event will be dominated
by beer – not wine – for Oktoberfest.
Plenty of German food and beer will be on
tap, along with music to dance by. Here's
an interesting note: In 1872 in Munich,
Oktoberfest was moved from October to
the "first Saturday after Sept. 15 until the
first Sunday in October." Evidently people
complained about the poor weather and
shorter days in October, so the event was
moved.
Speaking of October, our Sippers event
will be "Pirates Plunder," where folks will
have to search for a buried treasure. Rest
assured, this is NOT a scavenger hunt and
no one has to dig up anything! Whoever
finds the treasure will be surprised! This
event promises to be gobs of fun also.
Don't miss out on these upcoming events
as there will be a little bit of everything for
everyone.

Wine fun fact: A glass of red wine after
dinner is good for your heart health due to
containing the antioxidants resveratrol and
polyphenol. Resveratrol helps lower "bad"
cholesterol and polyphenol helps protect
blood vessels in your heart. It also has been
linked to a reduction in gum disease.
