The Kays recently boarded a Holland
America ship in Boston for a week long
cruise from Boston up to Nova Scotia (New
Scotland) area. We lucked out with weather
and our five stops were all new to us. Anyway,
as a knitter, it is always great to accidentally
come upon a yarn shop. This time was in
Sydney at a big craft warehouse with local
crafters and huts with various items for sale.
One of those huts was filled with yarn and I
had on my happy face. Among the multitude
of choices, I narrowed down my wants to
two skeins. These were considered colors
from Scottish clans, each color in the skein
represents something — sky, sea, coal, etc.
The salesperson was kind enough to share
a pattern to use also. I will always have my
finished projects to remind me of Nova
Scotia.

QUILTERS
Whenever you're in the Clubhouse, be sure to
take a look at the Arts & Crafts display case in
the hallway. Each month a different group gets a
chance to display the things their members create.
We have some pretty talented folks in Solera!
The month of August belonged to the Solera
Quilters. The Ladies bring in items according to a
specific theme. These range from small coasters
or potholders, to wall hangings and large quilts.
Even a few little critters get showcased now and
then. Then, two of the ladies get to arrange the
display case showing off the beautiful works of the
members. Penny Quinn and Claudette Rychecky
(at left) are the lucky ones who get this honor.
There are so many wonderful choices from our
talented members; it's not an easy choice. So
next time you're in the Clubhouse, take a peek at
the display case. It might inspire you to create
something wonderful too!
