| LIFE IN SOLERA | SEPTEMBER 2024 | 5 Curb Appeal Feature During inspections, committee members observed many roll-up garage doors were dirty, likely due to excess lubrication, sun fading, or general grime. Residents who tried cleaning their doors discovered that the paint had washed off making the situation worse. The door now had a chalky effect. Since the doors are 20 years old, they need a fresh coat of paint in colors like shell white, Swiss coffee, white, or white shadow, easily matching any existing stucco colors. A semi-gloss or satin sheen is recommended. The weather stripping and base molding should match the garage door or door trim color. A Home Improvement Application (HIA) is required to paint or replace the garage door. If a door is damaged, like being hit by a vehicle, it must be replaced with a door that matches the existing one in design, material, and appearance. Following the DRC Guidelines (5.31) when painting or replacing the door is essential to avoid costly errors. Installing a different door could lead to financial repercussions, so it is crucial to adhere to the Guidelines.
