FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2024 23 Facilities Committee Autumn is upon us! As the Facilities Committee enters the 10th month of the year, we start to think about how this affects our facilities. With the pools and spa areas closing at the end of October, we begin necessary repairs and work in those areas during October and November. Even though we will be in the fall of the year, we attempt to work around the weather to complete these tasks. The last two months have been very hectic with carpet being installed in all areas including the Ballroom and RCN. The new chairs for the Bistro are now in place. The ping pong tables for The Courts are installed and in use. At the end of August, we completed walk-abouts throughout the various facilities; this is an annual event. We have submitted our list of suggestions to our Board Liaisons and FirstService for review. Our committee presented capitol recommendations to the Board in September for the year 2025 along with considerations for future requirements in our facilities such as possible painting projects. If you have a facilities concern, you can reach us via the Daily Report. We have a tab labeled Facilities — just click on that tab and it will take you to an email form which will be forwarded to the proper person. We meet the second Wednesday of every month at 9 am in the RCN Conference Room. You are welcome to join us with any questions or concerns, or email me directly @ginajo25@ aol.com. Enjoy everything autumn has to offer in our beautiful community. ~ Regina Farmer Social Committee Cathleen Allen - Call me a "Valley Girl" … sort of. I was born in the San Fernando Valley and moved to San Diego when I was 11 years old. I married young, during the Vietnam War. While my husband was deployed, I gave birth to my daughter. Having my daughter to raise during that time was such a pleasure and she still is a treasure! Fast forward to being a single mom in the 80s/90s. I met and married the love of my life, Bob. We blended our families and now have four adult children. The bulk of my career was in Property Management. My father built, co-owned, and managed over 500 residential units in North Orange County and Lancaster, California. It was challenging at times, although I really enjoyed working with the most wonderful man, my dad. Today, we enjoy Four Seasons. I have been on the Social Committee for a little over two years. I really enjoy the camaraderie shared by all. It is such a delight to see the end results of our efforts, especially for the annual Fashion Show and the New Year's Eve Party. Our event for Oct. 26 will be "Better In Boots" with a tribute to Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, and Reba McEntire. So put your boots on and join the fun! Cheryl Calderon worked at California State University, San Bernardino for 27 years. She served as a Senior Budget Analyst for the Student Affairs Division where she oversaw 13 departments and a $265 million dollar budget. While working at Cal State, she served as the advisor to the Alpha Phi sorority for 15 years. She also met her husband, Chef Tito, at the University. After retiring and moving to Four Seasons in 2019, Cheryl joined an organization called Childhelp. It was founded in 1959 and is one of the oldest and largest organizations dedicated to helping victims of child abuse and neglect and at-risk children. She is currently the president of the Inland Empire Chapter. The Chapter partners with the Childhelp Foster Family Agency in San Bernardino to support the local foster children. Cheryl was also a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Riverside County. As a CASA, she worked with two foster care brothers for over a year until they were reunited with their family. Cheryl currently has eight grandchildren; by the time this article is published she will have nine. They all live locally, and all keep their Grammy very active. Both ladies are a great addition to the Social Committee! ~ Lisa Johnson, lisajohnson710@gmail.com, (714) 322-8877
