FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2024 41 Hello dancers, I hope that all of you have enjoyed your summer travels. Now it's time to prepare for the holidays that are right around the corner. We finished our summer participating in the Beaumont-Cherry Valley Recreation & Parks District, Boots Brew & BBQ Bash on Aug. 24 (photo at right). The weather turned out nice, the vendors were abundant, and the food, BBQ of course, smelled so delicious it was difficult to choose a restaurant. The audience participation for our country line dance turned out great, we had more men join us than in the past. We had an enjoyable time. Thank you to those who were able to join us. Our class schedule: Tuesday: 1:45 – 2:15 pm Novice; 2:15 – 3 pm Beginner – High Beginner; 3 – 3:30 pm Intermediate Wednesday: 3:30 – 4:30 pm Beginner – High Beginner; 4:30 – 5:15 pm Intermediate Looking Ahead: Wednesday, Oct. 30 – Dance in Costume Saturday, Nov. 23 – An Evening of Music & Dance Wednesday, Dec. 18 – Holiday Luncheon/Birthday Celebrations See you on the dance f loor! ~ Priscilla Robles, (909) 239-6464 Heart & Soul Line Dance Most disasters knock out electric power, which normally enables us to communicate by phone. The most sophisticated cell phone will be useless if cell towers are down. During emergencies, amateur radio is usually thought of as the last resort. When there are no landlines, no cell phone, you are unable to text, no Internet, then amateur radio is viewed as the last resort for communications. Therefore, the Four Seasons at Beaumont Amateur Radio Club's mission is to provide communication support for the residents of Four Seasons at Beaumont during times of an emergency when other means of communications are unavailable. Our Amateur Radio Club is for anyone interested in radio communication or radio technology and who is willing to use these tools to help other residents of our community during difficult times. The Four Seasons at Beaumont Amateur Radio Club members are here to promote radio knowledge and enjoyment of the science of radio; they are amateur radio operators and/or radio hobbyists who preserve and bring back to life old radios. We have our weekly informational Nets (on the air meetings) each Wednesday at 5:30 pm on frequency 145.645 MHz. The purpose of these Nets is for club members to practice radio procedures and test the capabilities of their equipment. Four Seasons at Beaumont residents are welcome and encouraged to check into these Nets after regular roll call as a visitor. Our monthly in-person meetings are on the last Friday of each month at 10 am in RCN Room #3. Our next meeting will be Friday, Oct. 25. All are is invited to join us, find out what we are about, and become a member. Please visit our website at www.w6fsb.org. ~ Henry Ciesielski, hwciesielski@yahoo.com Amateur Radio There are some new and exciting changes to our Monday night meeting. Our format starts from 6 to 6:30 pm with dance warm up, review, and beginning level dance of the month. Warm up is important for getting our legs ready. We don't want to pull something! Next, intermediate to advanced level moves for dance of the month is from 6:40 to 7 pm. Of course, beginners can always work on the side while this is going on. I have done that many times in the last year. Then, from 7:10 to 7:30 pm we will do a fast dance. This is a chance to impress your friends, neighbors, and relatives with some interesting and fun moves. Our last session from 7:40 to 8 pm will be time for a slow dance, such as a Waltz. That is your opportunity to show how a slow dance brings out the "romantic" in you. As always, we are led by outstanding instructor Cindy Finley. She is very patient with those of us, like me, who might need a little more help to get those feet moving the proper way. Join us in The Lodge Ballroom on Monday nights to meet some new people and have some fun. We look forward to seeing you. BYOB and snacks make it a fun night.
