FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2024 45 Life After Loss I have selected this issue of the Breeze to offer a more detailed understanding of the Life After Loss group. Because grief is a very personal and private form of loss, its presence often arouses our sympathy as well as our curiosity. However, in the absence of a specific understanding of what grief is versus what it is not, people often make up their own explanations, which may or may not be factual. Allow me to provide some clarity on our group. Purpose – We are devoted to supporting those who have encountered any form of grief/loss. We are an open group in the sense that our meetings are open to any resident of the Four Seasons who is at least 18 years of age. Individuals are free to start at any time, end at any time, or come intermittently as individual needs arise. Nature – We are a support group, NOT a therapy group. Should participants feel they need different (additional) support, they are encouraged to contact their primary-care physician or insurance provider. Make-up – We are a warm, sensitive, and caring group who have encountered various forms of grief. We are all in various stages of realizing the profound implications that grief has on our lives. Beliefs – Our group is centered around the guiding principles of respect, confidentiality, and commitment. 1) Respect - Every member is treated with respect and as such, advice giving is not allowed. Members are free to share what they have tried and how (if) it worked for them. Politics and religion are not discussed. Members are free to share how their faith has aided their specific recovery. 2) Confidentiality - What is said in the group is kept strictly confidential. If people don't feel safe, they will not speak. 3) Commitment – Members are encouraged to attend meetings consistently. Should they be unable to attend, they are encouraged to inform the group leader. Format – Bi-monthly meetings may involve a voluntary "check- in" of present members to relate how their weeks have been since the last meeting. At times, we may dialogue on a particular aspect of the grief experience or discuss the significance and relevance of a particular reading/article. Regardless of the chosen weekly format, participants are encouraged to interact with others but are never obligated to do so should they so choose. Should you desire a deeper understanding of what it means to live a more meaningful "life after loss" we invite you to join us. The Life After Loss Group is about "people helping people" who have encountered any form of grief/loss in their life. Unless otherwise notified, we meet the first and third Mondays of each month from 1 to 3 pm in RCN Room #3. All information is kept confidential. If you have experienced a form of grief/loss and would like to join the group, please text/call Byron Thomsen beforehand at (909) 936-7097 or email him at byron.thomsen@yahoo.com. ~ Byron omsen In January 2024, we began studying the Epistle of James in the New Testament. From there we "battled" through the Book of Joshua in the Old Testament, observing how the Hebrew people came together to conquer the Canaanites. We blinked, and the study of Jude was over. (Of course, it's only a page and a half in the New Testament.) But that tiny book left us with many lessons to contemplate about false teachers, apostasy, fallen angels, as well as the explained definitions of sanctification, mercy, and peace, among others. Even though it is a tiny book, it was filled with lots of inspiring and thoughtful issues that are prevalent in the world today as well. In mid-September, we began the lengthy study of Jeremiah, a dynamic prophet in the Old Testament, who continually called the Hebrew people to repentance. They were not oblivious to their sins, but chose the way of the world anyway. This study will take us into 2025! If any of you beautiful Four Seasons women would be interested in studying the Book of Jeremiah with us, please bring your Bible and come to the Game Room at The Lodge any Friday from 10:30 to 11:45 am, and meet the most amazing and godly women who live right here in Four Seasons! We hope you'll take this challenge! ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine, (951) 922-6829 or egcellent@msn.com "Believe …" Women's Bible Study The work on the tiles for Four Seasons Veterans is approaching the deadline for completion in time for a Veterans Day ceremony. We have had to change the base from a wooden platform to a cement foundation which may cause a delay. Our tile count in early September is almost 70 with a week to go before submitting the list to the engraver. Veterans who missed the September deadline will still have an opportunity to purchase a tile for our planned event on 2025 Memorial Day. ~ Len Tavernetti, ltavernetti@hotmail.com FS Veterans Club
