FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2024 57
Though October is finally here and pumpkin spice is
ubiquitous, it is still too early for the color changes of autumn (we try
to avoid saying "fall" on the courts), but we did get new colors for our
tennis courts, same as for pickleball and paddle tennis. Must have
been a sale on the paint. We have moved on from the purple and green
matching Indian Wells and Wimbledon (not the grass, the theme
colors), and we love the bright blue court surrounded by the distinct
green out-of-bounds, where I seem to hit the ball. The Club celebrated
the opening of the beautiful, resurfaced courts with a special play day
in August. Twenty members showed up ready to get out there and
begin playing, but first we had a grand reopening ribbon cutting.
With four of the Executive Committee members posing behind the
giant ribbon for the photo op, Club member Chikako Ferguson, the
only one allowed to use sharp scissors, snipped through the gossamer
sash. Following several rounds of tennis, everyone retreated
to the patio for snacks and toasts with champaign or mimosas.
Executive Committee members donated the bubbly beverages, and
Activities Coordinator Lou Stokes prepared the decorations and
snacks. Then we sat around and sobered up before driving home.
Mike Olson is now managing the recycling project, so please
look for emails regarding collection days for the plastic bottles and
aluminum cans, empty please.
Playdays will continue to be scheduled for the last Saturday of each
month – sign-ups at 8 am, and tennis drills and coaching will occur
beginning at 8:30 am on the other Saturdays. Everyone is welcome.
Morning and evening tennis sign-ups are available on the website:
