| LIFE IN SOLERA | OCTOBER 2024 | 5 Curb Appeal Feature Shrubs play a crucial role in the overall aesthetic of your landscape, serving as decorative borders, living fences, and foundation plantings that enhance the character of your property. When it comes to planting regulations, it's important to keep in mind the guidelines outlined in the DRC Guidelines 6.2. For instance, in the front yard beyond the ten-foot setback, the maximum height for plantings is six feet up to the beginning of the garage. Hedges along property lines should not exceed eight feet in height, and plantings along residence walls should not exceed the height of the fascia. To maintain the health and appearance of your shrubs and trees, it's crucial to trim them when the weather cools down. Remember, overgrown shrubs can obstruct views for pedestrians and drivers if planted near the curb or street. Additionally, overgrown trees near your home can cause damage to roof tiles and gutters. By following these guidelines and practicing regular maintenance, you can ensure that your shrubs and trees remain healthy and enhance the beauty of your landscape. FYI - When you receive a violation letter, stating you have 14 days to correct the violation, means you need to submit an HIA application for correction in 14 days, after which you have one year to complete the application.
