| LIFE IN SOLERA | OCTOBER 2024 | 27
Oktoberfest is an annual festival first started in Munich, Germany
in 1810 with the marriage of the crown prince of Bavaria, who later
became King Louis I. It draws approximately six million people
annually. The Solera Sippers had their own Oktoberfest in September
with a wonderful celebration of German food, beer and music (photos
next month). Fortunately, we didn't have six million members show
up for the event. Parking would have been a bit of a problem.
Our October event is a new one for us – Pirates Plunder. Members
will get a chance to "search" for a pirate's treasure chest. Hint: It's not
a scavenger hunt. There is also a costume contest, and prizes will be
awarded to those who go "overboard". This promises to be a fun event.
November will be another fun event, as we'll be tasting several wines
"blindly" and rating them. It's always a hoot to see how members
judge these wines.
The Solera Sippers group have the largest number of members in
Solera for a reason … we know how to have fun. All Solera residents
are welcome – singles or couples.
Membership is required if you are a Solera resident.
