| SUN CITY CORE COURIER | SEPTEMBER 2024 | 3 By Brian Holley, President of Sun City Civic Association Hi everyone. I hope all is fine and dandy. We are doing great here as we wind down the year. I hope everyone enjoyed the first magazine that was officially printed and mailed. I give kudos and many thanks to our General Manager, Norma Zermeno, for hunting, fishing, and beating the bushes to find the publisher to put out the fantastic magazine that is funded by advertising at no cost to us. It's your turn to beat the bushes and get the local businesses to put in advertisements in our newspaper as this will bolster the whole project. On to a little news for those that don't want to read farther. There is no news on the golf course. The only thing is they have been drilling holes by the trees to water them — not sure how they will do it; maybe water underground with treated water. If you look at the North Course between Cherry Hills and McCall, you will see the pipes sticking up. Otherwise, nothing else is going on. They are still having meetings, so I encourage you to attend them and ask questions. I am going to repeat this until I get every one of you. We have a mass email system. If we need to get any news or emergency information out between magazines and you are on the email list, then we can get it to you. We have about 3,000 in there now. I encourage you to please fill out the form and check the box that says do not share my email with anyone. That way, it stays with us and stays safe in the system. The next item might be something that will bite me hard. If you have a question, such as how different laws coming up may affect the Association, the state of the Association budget, violations, or what we are doing in working with the City and Police, please write in. Put it through the mail slot at the office and address it to the General Manager. We may publish a reply in the Core Courier, we may get overwhelmed, or we may not get any. There is only so much we can say or do as an HOA, but we will try. Next thing, we will have some sort of fraud corner in the magazine. If you have or know of any fraud issues for seniors, please email it to manager@suncitycivic.com or write a letter and put it in the office mail slot. It must be a valid fraud matter — not something that was copied and pasted from unknown sources. We will share some of these in upcoming Core Couriers. On Oct. 12 from 8 am to 12 pm, we are having our annual garage sale. We have 40 slots available. Sign up by emailing activities@ suncitycivic.com. It is free, and we expect it to fill up quick. In fact, I suggest signing up as soon as you read this. Last, but not least, we are having a great Halloween event with a band, food, and traditional Halloween food — Chinese! It will be on Oct. 26 from 4 to 7 pm. I hope you all have a great October. See you at the Halloween party! I will be wearing my usual costume. Message from the President
