| OHCC LIVING | OCTOBER 2024 | 33 The Photography Club is planning to prepare a new photography exhibit in the Clubhouse corridor to replace the existing "Ref lections" photos. We encourage all Photo Club members to submit photos for judging and inclusion in this exhibit. Here are the contest details: Theme: "So Cal Living." Images should embody what it's like to live in Southern California. This can include beautiful sunsets, beach scenes, desert, mountains, year-round activities, sports, etc. Judging: 10 images, plus alternates, will be selected from all the entries by a committee of judges. The Club Photo Display Committee will make an initial review of submittals for general suitability, but judging of candidate images will solely be done by highly qualified individuals from Oceanside Museum of Art and the North County Photographic Society. The judges will assess entries for (1) satisfying the theme, (2) creativity, (3) overall impact, (4) composition, and (5) technical quality. Judging will be done in closed session using digital means for viewing the images. A Club member may have up to two images chosen for display. Entry Rules: 1. You must be a current member of the Photography Club to submit entries. If you would like to join the Photo Club, please sign up at the front desk. 2. Entries must be the work of the submitting member. 3. Photographs must have been taken after Jan. 1, 2023. 4. The Woodchucks' Toy Drive is fast approaching, and we are working hard to meet the deadline (Sat., Nov. 23). New to our Group of Elves is OHCC's own Monday Morning Painting Group. They handpainted the cradles shown in photos below before assembly. Karin Leszinski, Lily Christiansen, Susan Pierce, Bob Jones, Marcie Geisser and Andy Fulton have been incredibly generous with their amazing talents. After paint and assembly, members of the OHCC Sewing Club have made around 50 (that's FIFTY!) quilted blankets to adorn these works of art. These quilts are heirloom quality pieces. On Sat., Nov. 23 is our big event, our annual Toy Drive Drive-Thru and Toy Drop-Off. Please put this on your calendar and don't miss this opportunity to support the Camp Pendleton YMCA and their endeavors to make sure every child, (and teens, too), has a gift to unwrap for the holiday season.
