38 | OHCC LIVING | OCTOBER 2024 | Golf Club August was another busy month for our golf club. The Special Tournament on Aug. 5 and 6 rewarded many contestants. Here are a few who cleaned up those days. The Magic Circlers on Monday included Frank Abe, Bob Clarke, Richard Farr, Len Holness, Steve Lambert, Marilyn Vetelsen, and Doug Wright. Closest to the Pin winners were Rick Brown and Jan Dermont. And a big shout out to Tony Gillette for his hole in one! Day two of the tourney produced more highlights, including Bonnie Esquibel, John Jarf, and Dennis Lady landing their shots in the Magic Circle; and Alan Richmond and Joan Kluis winning Closest to the Pin. And Jim Resney recorded a Hole in One. Way to go everyone! Touring Amateurs ventured to the El Camino Country Club on Mon., Aug. 12. It was our first visit there and everyone was impressed by the layout. Hope we can return to this course again next year. Closest to the Pin hot shots were Robbie Sullivan and Rick Brown. Only two of our golfers were able to land in the Magic Circle: Craig Cameron and Paul Sullivan. Guys and Dolls on Sat., Aug. 24 was another hotly contested tournament, and I mean HOT literally. Closest to the Pin champs were Heidi Hekal and Doug Murray. Five golfers managed to land in the Magic Circle: Bob Fisher, Fred Peppe, Greg, Cies, Mark Deutman, and Debbie Machnick. Kudos to them and all the other money winners of these three tourneys. The final events of the year are Touring Amateurs on Oct. 7 at The Links at St Marks and Nov. 18 at the Welks Fountain Course. The last Special Tournament of the season happens on Oct. 21 and 22. Thanks to Mike and Barb Thompson for hosting the tournament and to Lenhoff Financial for generously sponsoring it. And don't forget about our club's holiday party in December, the date has yet to be announced. Included are three photos of happy golfers ready to tee off on our course. Why does it seem that everyone smiles before their round and afterward maybe not so much. Written by Jim Mulvey Calorie Free Happy Hour! If you are interested in improving strength, flexibility, endurance, balance, and overall body conditioning, then you may want to consider attending an aerobics class to see if it fits your needs. This is an all-standing, low-impact class… NO JUMPING! The instructor leads each class in a warm up session followed by the aerobic portion, and then she does a cool down. Light weights are used for the last 10 minutes of the class. Occasionally, there are a few exercises for balance and an easy dance for fun. Classes are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in Abravanel Hall from 10 to 11 am with instructor Christine Alesiani. You can choose the number of classes each week that you would like to attend. (There is no class available on the second Wednesday of each month.) The cost is $5 per class paid directly to the instructor. You may pay for and try two classes without joining the club. The annual club dues are $6 (please make the check payable to OH Aerobics). ~ Written by Margie Raisigel Aerobics
