30 | OHCC LIVING | OCTOBER 2024 | Music Lovers As we say goodbye to summer, we remember all of our club's many good times on the Palm Court. Coffee House Mondays, our June concert with a great local band, our August Karaoke night and our End of Summer Party in September. Now, as we enter the month of October, we look forward to the early joys of fall; the change in weather, Halloween, pumpkin carving, decorating, costume parties, starting holiday shopping and enjoying those clear heavenly weekends in beautiful southern California. The Music Lovers Club is gearing up for some fun activities to round out 2024 and we hope you'll be able to participate. Remember, most of our music activities are open to the entire OHCC community. Coffee House Monday continues every week but will be moving indoors this month once the weather cools. In October, the Villagers return to perform in Abravanel Hall. Because of a conflict with the Wine club on Oct. 25 and concerns over our many shared members having to choose between one or the other, we've moved the concert date to Sat., Oct. 26. Our General meeting on Oct. 16 will be our time to vote on our slate of officers and directors. We'll have music and a potluck dessert bar with Irish Coffee to tempt folks to participate. If you haven't already done so, please consider one of our Board positions so we can continue our club in 2025 and its mission to bring music to all. Membership, Hospitality, Website, VP and Program director are up for your consideration. Volunteers and our love of music is what makes our club strong. Later this year, save the dates for the Annual Dinner on Nov. 22 and Holiday Karaoke on Dec. 6. Happy October everyone! To our members celebrating birthdays in October, have your best birthday yet. Bill Dunn, Steve Malone, Gail Miscioscia, Margie Stogdill, and Lainy Vinikow. Until next month, here's a quote to ponder by Henry W. Longfellow: "Music is the universal language of mankind."
