18 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2024 | Sun Lakes Committee Reports The Restaurant & Lounge Advisory Committee researches, observes, and collaborates in conjunction with other volunteer committees and presents these findings to our Master Board of Directors; the focus is to make SLCC more enjoyable for all of us while enhancing revenue. Speaking of revenue, I bet you haven't thought about how much we all spend on glassware, silverware, and napkins. The next time you order a Moscow mule, and it comes in a cup not a copper mug, you'll know why. The mugs, wine, martini, and brandy glasses just disappear. This is an expense that comes out of all resident's pockets. A little consideration, a thought for what this means to all of us, can make a difference. If you see something, say something. Our new Executive Chef, Joshua Steves, is a U.S. military man with both technical as well as culinary expertise. We thank him for his service and look forward to having him as part of our Sun Lakes family. I'm excited to tell you that on Oct. 9 at 3:30 pm, the Grand Opening of our striking new Lounge with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony tables will be held on a first come, first served basis only. On Sat., Oct. 19 from 4 to 8 pm, we'll celebrated the Grand Re-Opening of our Restaurant This will be a reservation only event; once our room capacity is reached no more reservations will be honored. Fine dining will be on Friday and Saturday nights. Call early to RSVP: (951) 769-6654. The Restaurant will always be available during the week for your private events, clubs, and groups; just be sure to call in advance to allow our fantastic staff to set up according to your individual needs. Monday Night Football is back in our Sandwedge Sports Bar & Grill. Tom Hyatt has volunteered to be your emcee again; there will be lots of food and beverage specials, trivia contests, prizes, and lots of neighborly fun and camaraderie. Watch the America's Cup in comfort. Thurs., Oct. 3 is National Boyfriend Day. Bring your favorite guy for dinner or drinks. Make it a date night. Fri., Oct. 4 is National Golf Lovers Day; whether you play the game or not, we love our two beautiful courses … how about enjoying one of the most popular lunch sandwiches, "The Golfer" or any of our other Sandwedge menu items while appreciating our beautiful golf course view? In addition, it's also National Beer and Pizza Day. Try Chef 's specialty Flat Bread Pizza paired with a selection of local beers from Hanger 24 and Ritual Brewing Company. As we look forward to the sights and smells of October … golden leaves, Jack O' Lanterns, all things pumpkin. One of the things that makes October at Sun Lakes so unique is the creative talents of our neighbors. Whether you're participating in the Halloween House Decorating contest or, like me, enjoying driving around and appreciating all the imagination and originality that our neighbors put into this event, we'll have lunch, dinner, or drinks with friends and try to decide who we think the winner is — it's hard to select just one. Oct. 6 is World Smile Day — bring a friend or a shut-in neighbor for lunch put a smile on their face and one in your heart. On Oct. 28, National Chocolate Day is celebrated with one of Angel's famous Chocolate Martinis or any one of our famous milk, dark, or white chocolate desserts paired with specially selected wines to tantalize your taste buds. You won't want to miss the always fun Halloween Dog Parade; enjoy lunch with friends and re-cap all the furry cuteness. Remember the last Sunday of the month is the Spooktacular Brunch. Call for reservations at (951) 769-6654. Stay tuned as we are looking forward to more upcoming theme nights. Do you have food industry or related experience you'd like to share? Our Committee Interest Form is in the Main Clubhouse Lobby, fill it out soon and return to the reception desk. All applications will be reviewed and applicants interviewed. We'll look forward to meeting you. Imagine what our neighborhood would be like if each of us offered, as a matter of course, just one kind word to another person, not just during this festive season, but every day. Until next month, stay humble, wishing you all happiness, fun, laughter and peace in your hearts. ~ Carole Elliott, caroleelliott28@ gmail.com Restaurant & Lounge Advisory
