| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2024 | 31 Reminder for those who have already signed up and paid, our October event is Oct. 5 and will feature our own Ray Roberson, fingers crossed, with wife LaWanda! For our September gathering, we had chicken croissant sandwiches with fruit and macaroni salad from Thomas catering. The cold meal seemed fully appropriate for our continuing 100 degree weather. Our entertainment was the married duo of Ellen and Dix Henneke, Elixir. Their performance was stellar with some favorites which included Bye Bye Love, I Fall to Pieces, Folsom Prison Blues, When Will I Be Loved, Blue Suede Shoes, Crazy, Sweet Dreams Baby and Get Together. Their sounds were great and their interactions were very fun. They were truly entertaining. The crowd clearly loved them as the tip jar filling indicated. There were many compliments throughout the rest of the gathering. It had been awhile since we had Elixir and we'll definitely have them back soon. We love you, Dix and Ellen! The 80s Club is for our Sun Lakes residents near or over 80 years of age along with their guests, no matter their ages. Our events are always on the first Saturday of the month and begin at 3 pm, and include a brief meeting with announcements, then entertainment and the meals begin between 3:30 and 4 pm. Each month is very close to the capacity at the South Clubhouse so it makes for a very festive and interacting group. Come join us once for the meal price of $20 to see if you might enjoy our group and only if you do, do you need to join for the second time you attend. But you do need to pay for your reservation in order to attend. Our dues are $10 a year per person. People will now be paying their dues for 2025 so anyone joining our group now can pay their dues of $10 per person which will now carry them through 2025 membership. Our November event will be Nov. 2 for our full Thanksgiving spread and will feature Renee Rojanaro who has never performed for the 80s before but has been on our Veranda many times and is very popular with Sun Lakes residents. Get your checks to Donna Harrington for $20 per person at 5393 Riviera for our November event before Oct. 27. If the event sells out, the box will be removed and an event closed note will be there. If you are mailing in your check, we must have it in by the deadline date and make sure your phone number is on the check. Also, please give us the name of any guests you are paying for and bringing. We're always at the south clubhouse, people begin arriving at 2:30 pm to get checked in and get their seats, and the program starts at 3 pm. Please make your checks out to 80s Plus Club.
