| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2024 | 3 Happy October! Autumn is in full swing with cooler temperatures, autumn leaves, and pumpkin goodies galore! Many of us are enjoying evenings on our patios watching the sunset and appreciating the quiet of Sun Lakes. But don't get too comfortable; one of the greatest goals this Board has envisioned is coming into being. The Event of the Year is happening in the first weeks of October with the Grand Re-Opening of our Lounge! This celebration is tentatively scheduled for Wed., Oct. 9. Come enjoy Happy Hour with food and drink specials, prizes, live music, and lots of fun. Mark your calendars and watch for more details as the date gets closer. Don't miss out on the celebration! The Mission Statement for Sun Lakes is to preserve and enhance the community for the benefit of its members. There is a lot coming to fruition in this last quarter of 2024 that embodies this objective. Besides the opening of the newly-renovated Lounge, the Restaurant is also boasting a new look with fresh paint, brand new carpet, and an updated menu, as is the Sandwedge, where the uncomplicated menu and expanded sports theme ref lect the sports bar and grill atmosphere. Just completed: the RV lot has been fitted with new cameras that connect to a live feed on the front gate video. With these new cameras in place, we have been able to remove the Securitas patrol unit that was stationed inside the RV lot overnight to prevent break-ins. Also, the fountains on Gate 2 are now fully working. Another great win for Sun Lakes is the continuing Spectrum contract for 2025. The current contract expires in August 2025, but we have been able to renew it early and take advantage of some upgrades that will now begin January 2025 instead of September 2025. We will keep the same extended- cable package, but our internet will take a giant leap in speed, going from 200 Mbps to 1 Gbps (or 1 Gig), which is one of the fastest speed available. This will dramatically improve upload speeds, streaming speeds, and overall quality. All of this comes with the same price tag and the same 4 percent yearly increase that we now have. This month, the budget for 2025 will be presented at the Open Session on Oct. 23. The Board and management have been working on incorporating many of the requests the community has made for more service, such as increased Community Patrol during the evenings and quicker, easier access to getting transponders issued or replaced. In September, management introduced extended Administrative hours on Mondays, staying open until 7 pm to provide homeowners who are working an opportunity to stop by the office and handle certain items with Administration. These items include: • Answering questions related to Administrative functions. (House Accounts/RV Lot rentals, etc.) • Assisting members with scheduling appointments for registrations or transponders. • Dropping off items for Planning & Compliance. • Obtaining forms. October is a month full of festivities including Oktoberfest and of course, Halloween! Watch for some fun and spooky happenings in the Lounge as well as recreation, plus weekend music on the Veranda to enjoy the cool October nights.
