Join the Happy Cookers for a Ghoulish Gathering. Ghosts, witches, and all the spooky spirits are invited to celebrate Halloween in style with the Happy Cookers. As the leaves turn and the eerie feeling of October sets in, we're gearing up for an event that's bound to be more treat than trick. Join us on Fri., Oct. 25 at 11 am at the South Clubhouse. This isn't just any gathering; it's a chance to show off your most creative costumes and bring dishes that scream Halloween. From mummy-wrapped sausages to pumpkin pies, let your culinary imagination run wild. Come dressed as your favorite ghoul, hero, or fairytale character. Whether you're a classic vampire or a trendy superhero, all costumes are welcome. It's the perfect opportunity to stir up some fun, meet new faces, and enjoy the community spirit. Cooking in October brings a palette of rich f lavors and comforting aromas to the kitchen. As the air turns crisp and the leaves showcase their fiery colors, seasonal ingredients like pumpkins, squashes, and apples come into their prime. This is a perfect time for home chefs to experiment with hearty soups, spiced baked goods, and savory roasts. October's bounty encourages a celebration of harvest f lavors, inviting culinary enthusiasts to embrace the warmth of cinnamon-spiced desserts, pumpkin-based dishes, and other autumnal delights that make this month a true feast for the senses. Whether it's preparing a big pot of chili for a cool evening or baking apple pies that fill the home with a delightful fragrance, October cooking is all about coziness and comfort. President Pat Coie can also be reached at (909) 262-5005. Arlene's Breakfast Club is a group of wonderful Sun Lakes ladies who enjoy a morning of fellowship and breakfast. We meet at 9 am the second Thursday of the month in the Main Clubhouse Restaurant. We have a variety of speakers on various topics and support our local veterans with donations. We have a raffle of cute gifts also! Our breakfast is a buffet for $18 including tax. There are no dues; just pay for your meal. We must provide an accurate count to the Restaurant so enough food is prepared. We also require a 24-hour cancellation call to Patti to avoid you being charged for the buffet meal.
