40 | LIFE IN SOLERA | NOVEMBER 2024 | QUILTERS At a recent quilting meeting, Joanne Larson shared this with us. We're always looking for reasons to buy more fabric. Now it's official and we have it in writing! NINE REASONS TO BUY MORE FABRIC 1. It insulates the cupboard where it is kept. 2. It keeps the economy moving. It is my duty to support cotton farmers, textile and quilting shops. 3. It is less expensive and more fun than psychiatric care. 4. It keeps without refrigeration, you don't have to cook it to enjoy it, you never have to feed it, wipe its nose, or walk it. 5. Like dust, it's good for protecting previously empty spaces, like the ironing board, the laundry basket, the dining room table… 6. It's not immoral, illegal, or fattening. It calms the nerves, gratifies the soul and makes me feel good. 7. Because it's on sale. (Saves money in these hard economic times.) 8. Because I'm worth it. 9. Life is short … buy the fabric! Our new annual challenge will be revealed in October. It's going to be hard to beat last year's, but I'm sure it will be great. Consider joining us on Mondays at noon to get in on the fun! Knit and Crochet group are all hands and needles … at left are some of the projects our members are currently working on which includes shawls, sweaters, afghans. Our member Olive was in charge of our hobby window display for October and also she participates every year in the Solera Craft Fair. Hopefully residents stopped by her booth for some beautiful knitted buys for Christmas presents. Holidays are approaching fast and hopefully our hot spells are nearing an end so we can all enjoy cooler weather. Happy Thanksgiving to all. KNIT & CROCHET CLUB
