Not only was the 100 degree weather coupled with the smoke from the Line Fire a challenge, so were the first and second place teams of Ed Young-Ernie Salvador-Manuel Magdaleno-Jim Karalun and Stan Whitesel-Arden Bates-Jim Parker-Ray Smith finished with scores of 11 and 10 under par respectively. Instead of CPs, the players were in the hunt to have the fewest putts. Karalun and Bates tied for fewest putts with 30 followed by Bob Ardis, Magdaleno, and Whitesel as the top five putters on this game. Two Man Best Ball was on tap wrapping up September's games. Once again the competition was very tight with Bates-Mike Davis and Armand Silva-Craig Martin finishing atop the leaderboard in a tie for first at 6 under par. Two strokes behind the winners was the team of Dave Scott-R Smith. CP winners were Davis, Magdaleno, Bob Umeck and R Smith's 4' 9" the closest of the four golfers. The third week in September featured a Foursomes Three Best Balls tournament. Taking top honors were Davis, Jesse Mendez, Tom Hamerla, and Dick Martin at 20 under par. Second place was the team of Tony Smith, Magdaleno, Jerry Stearn, and C Martin. The foursome in third place consisted of Umeck, Salvador, Bill Lufkin, and Young. CP winners were Mendez at 2' 10", Young took the second and third par three holes with Davis getting the fourth par three. We had a game format in the second week of September of a three flight Net Skins game. Each flight had eight golfers. Flight A had to play from the Gold Tees with skins being won by Dave Duncanson (3), T Smith (2), Davis (1), and Ardis (1). Flight B could choose which tees they played from. Merele Chapman, Dave Sampson, Rod Fry and Silva each had a skin to their name. Flight C also got to choose which tee box they would play from. This group's skins were won by Bock (3), Brad McDuffee (2), Karalun (2), Hamerla and Bradd each claimed a skin. CP winners were Gary Stange, Umeck, Jesse Marin and Chapman.
