10 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2024 | When you moved to Sun Lakes CC, one of the documents signed during the close of escrow was an agreement to abide by Rules and Regulations of the HOA. Most people do not take the time to study the HOA's CC&Rs and By-laws before adding their signatures to the form. We received a CD with copies of these documents, completely understandable because of the number of pages involved. Generously endowed with lots of legalistic words and officious phrases, our foundational documents have grown through the years with several revisions by amendment. One of the problems in trying to understand the rules of the HOA is the unwieldy nature of their composition. Many amendments cancel portions of the early writings and much of the early portion no longer pertains to the HOA. Not to spoil your read, but references to the builder, vacant lots and guidelines for situations no longer relevant, populate pages — to the point that eyes glass over. One of our Delegates, Gayle Bilek from District 7, volunteered to reorganize the foundational SLCC documents. God bless her because it's a meticulous, mind-numbing task. With obsolete references removed and all amendments compiled into a single document, accessing HOA rules will soon become much easier. One of best ways to find out what you need to know is by sending a Message to Management. Our Asst. General Manager, Jason Ewals, will respond with the answers you need. He's a world of knowledge about all things connected to Sun Lakes. You can find a link for Message to Management on both the SunLakesCC.com website and in the Sun Lakes mobile app. You can go analog by completing a form at the Main Clubhouse reception desk. There's a drop box on the counter. Getting the straight scoop from people in the know far surpasses what anyone will find from friends or Facebook. Your District Delegates are also a great source for happenings in the community. They've volunteered for their position and take their responsibilities seriously. Delegates follow happenings in most every function of the Association and stand ready to help members and residents with their issues. Developing a relationship with your Delegate is a good avenue to provide feedback for the Master Board. ~ Cal Martin From the Delegate Assembly
