18 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2024 | Our Committee researches, observes, collaborates, and presents findings and suggestions to our Master Board. Our focus is to make SLCC more enjoyable for while enhancing revenue. Fall is in the air with all the colors and smells of the season. I hope you are all enjoying our classic, beautifully remodeled Lounge. My friends and family love the art deco look and comfortable feel of the space. Make sure to try Angel's change-of-season special cocktails at the Lobby Bar, the Lounge, or the Restaurant. First is "Falling For You" Cocktails — think luscious caramel and vodka, yum. Featured for the fall is the Autumn Pumpkin White Russian and Caramel Apple Mule. Then there's the famous Thanksgiving Margarita. Our Fine Dining Restaurant is open on Friday and Saturday. Please call for reservations and keep in mind our SLCC Dress Code. Tues., Nov. 5, is Election Day and National Redhead Day … put all the stress behind you and stop in and enjoy happy hour with your friends … how about a beer or wine flight? Thurs., Nov. 7 is National Men Make Dinner Day. I say, "Men make reservations" and enjoy whatever you choose from Chef Joshua's menu. On Sta., Nov. 9, the SLCC Annual Veteran Walk and festivities respectfully honors all those who have served our country. Veterans Day is celebrated on Nov. 11 because it was on this day at 11 am that World War I ended in 1918. Tues., Nov. 12 is National French Dip Day. Enjoy our juicy and delicious special French Dip sandwich with Freedom Fries. Okay ladies, Wed., Nov. 13 is Sadie Hawkins Day — you know what that means; ladies choice! Invite a favorite neighbor, friend, husband, or beau for cocktails, lunch or dinner. It's an American folk event and pseudo-holiday originated by Al Capp's classic hillbilly comic strip Li'l Abner (1934–1978). Moving right along, Thurs., Nov. 28 is Thanksgiving. Chef Joshua has put together a bountiful Thanksgiving buffet feast served 11 am to 2:30 pm. You can enjoy a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings. In addition, there will be carved prime roast beef, stuffed pork tenderloin, plus pumpkin pie, and an array of tasty desserts. If you want to celebrate at home but don't want the chaos of cooking a big meal, don't do it. One of the many incredible things about SLCC that I am ever thankful for is our wonderful Restaurant — just call and order your dinners for pick up on Wed., Nov. 27. Order complete meals with both white and dark meat and traditional sides, including pumpkin pie. Warming instructions will be included; all you need to do is set your table, serve, and enjoy. Suddenly, so many things become so little when we realize how blessed and lucky we really are. Reservations must be made in advance for all events so please call (951) 769-6654. Gratitude is one of the most powerful human emotions. Once expressed, it changes attitude, brightens outlook, and broadens our perspective. To be truly Thanksgiving, is first thanks, then giving. Gratitude turns what we have into enough. On Sat., Nov. 30, Chef Joshua offers another special treat for National French Toast Day. You can enjoy breakfast all day long choose regular French Toast or indulge yourself with one of these delicacies' Berry Explosion, Bananas Foster or Apple Cinnamon.
