We are looking forward to much cooler temperatures and the holiday season. We had a great turnout for our September 60s & 70s theme event. Great tacos, rice and beans were prepared by our Restaurant. MLC did a great job entertaining and playing our favorite songs. Nov. 16: Wine Tasting (North Clubhouse) first come, first served. The maximum will be 40 members. There will be delicious pairings for each wine plus a YAH wine glass and cordial glass. Cost is $45 per person. Dec. 7: YAH is dark in December, but we wanted to provide you with some information on a fun event you can attend with a group of your friends. This is not an official YAH event. The Palm Springs Annual Christmas Lights Parade is at 5:45 pm. The parade takes place on Palm Canyon Drive in downtown Palm Springs. The parade route is approximately 1.5 miles long and takes about 40 minutes for each entry to complete the route. The first unit steps off at 5:45 pm and the last unit will cross the finish line at approximately 8 pm. The best place to watch the parade is along Palm Canyon Drive from Ramon Road to Tachevah Road. There is limited bleacher seating available. Please feel free to bring lawn chairs to sit in along the curb on Palm Canyon Drive. You may bring blankets and your own food and beverages, however, NO ALCOHOL! You do not need a ticket. The parade was created by a small group of community-minded individuals who believed it important to offer the Coachella Valley an event that would allow residents and visitors to celebrate the spirit and joy of the holiday season while at the same time creating a unique tourism event. Jan. 26, 2025: NFL chili cook-off is back by popular demand. Cost is $5 per person. Please indicate on your check if you are bringing chili. If you're not bringing chili, bring an appetizer to share. If there are events you would like to see Young at Heart put on, please email me your ideas. We would love to get some new ideas. Dues are still only $10 per person. We are looking for some new members for our Board. If you have any interest, please contact Michele Walter (951) 202-8009. We give thanks for our friends and family and for being able to live in the beautiful community of Sun Lakes. We are truly blessed.
