4 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2024 | It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that we must acknowledge the passing of Founding Pass Action Group (PAG) Board member Mr. Jim Corrigan. Jim was currently the PAG Vice President. Jim was a great Board Member even though he worked often at his "real" job. Jim led and assisted during fundraising events. Also, Jim along with Diane Berley spent countless hours using his business knowledge and acumen to create a document to preserve challenges to the Sunset Crossroads project east of Sun Lakes. Although the Pass Action Group, as an entity, will not be challenging the project, it was submitted under a concerned citizen title that could be a new group chartered to challenge the developers. Rest in peace Jim! As noted in the October Lifestyles, the City Council voted on Sept. 10 to deny the Banning Point project as submitted. The developers made a legal and lawful request to ask the City Council to reconsider their vote at the Oct. 8 council meeting. No motion was made, and the request failed for lack of a motion. That is another hurdle that the PAG has cleared successfully. Along with community members and our attorney, Mr. Kevin Bundy, we made our position known to the Council. The lack of a motion has now given the developers the option of filing for a Writ of Mandate with the Superior Court to keep their proposed project moving forward. As noted in October Lifestyles, this "legal wrangling" has forced the PAG into more legal fees when we had hoped to have at least a break in charges. Thank you to all the supporters and for the donations at our fundraiser last month. Every little bit is still needed to cover recently accrued legal invoices. Stay tuned for more opportunities to donate and enjoy yourselves at the same time. Donations, large and small, are still needed due to this additional legal wrangling. Checks, made out to Pass Action Group can be dropped off or mailed to our Treasurer at 4832 Crenshaw Circle, Banning 92220. Online donations can be made at www.givebutter. com/passactiongroupbanning. We would like to once again thank every supporter with a special nod to Courtney Taylor, publisher of Lifestyles, for giving us the space in the magazine to write our monthly recap. Remember: "It takes a community, to save the community." News From the Pass Action Group
