FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | NOVEMBER 2024 61 Tennis Club Mixed Doubles Players - Lou, Lizzie, Mike, Nancy, Syed, Chuck, Tracy, Richard Women's Doubles Players - Josie, Lizzie, Lou, Tracy Mixed Doubles Winners - Nancy Walker & Chuck Beckman Okay, November is finally here, the hot weather is behind us, and the wildfires extinguished. (This being written at the beginning of October, so it is hopeful and speculative.) What is certain is that October was a good month for friendly competition on the courts. As one of the activities of the Four Seasons Senior Olympics, the Tennis Club had contests for Women's Doubles, Men's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. Gold Medal winners in Mixed Doubles were Nancy (Serena) Walker and Chuck (Novak) Beckman, with the Silver Medals going to Tracy Mahan and Richard Carrasco, and Bronze Medal to Lou Stokes and Mike Olson and also to Lizzie Gallegos and Syed Ali. The Women's Doubles Gold Medals went to the team of Tracy Mahan and Lou Stokes, who bested the team of Josie Beauchamp and Lizzie Gallegos, who took home the Silver Medals. Maybe there is an extra Bronze Medal that we can give to Jordan Chiles. There were several more teams battling in the Men's Doubles, but the outcome for Gold was predictable — Chuck Beckman and Larry Martin prevailed. The second-place team of Tito Calderon/Alex Castanon and Howard Levine grabbed the Silver Medals. Two teams qualified for Bronze Medals: Stan Lam and Mike Olson along with Paul Ko and Richard Carrasco. Thank you to Cindy Graves and her team for organizing Four Seasons Beaumont's first Senior Olympics. Mike Olson is managing the recycling project, so please look for emails regarding collection days for the plastic bottles and aluminum cans, empty please. Wine bottles are also being accepted and also need to be empty, so chug it before gently leaving them at Mike's house on the designated days. Save the date: The Annual Meeting and Dinner is Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at The Courts Multipurpose Room, subject to HOA approval of the date and location. This will put us back on the traditional cycle of starting the new membership year with the start of the calendar year. Time Change: Play days will continue to be scheduled for the last Saturday of each month with sign-ups at 8:30 am and play beginning at 9 am; tennis drills and coaching begin at 9 am on the other Saturdays. Everyone is welcome. Morning and evening tennis sign ups are available on the website: https://sites.google.com/ view/tennis-fourseasons/home. ~ Steve Hovey (951) 712-5319, sahovey47@hotmail.com
