26 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | NOVEMBER 2024 Finance Committee During the Finance Committee's regular monthly meeting, the financial statements for August 2024 were reviewed and recommended for Board approval. In addition, we reviewed expenditure proposals for various recommended projects in the community. We also reviewed investment recommendations to move maturing investments to higher-yield, FDIC-insured instruments. Highlights of the August financial statements are: Total Cash is $13,826,378 including operating cash of $2,397,401 (checking and CDs) and reserve assets of $10,987,189, and reconstruction assets of $441,788. Our total year-to-date net income is $184,254. Homeowners are welcome to join us at the Finance Committee's regularly scheduled monthly meetings held on the last Tuesday of each month. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 1 pm in the RCN Conference Room. The Finance Committee reviews and discusses many issues that you may have questions about. We are currently preparing our budget for 2025. I would encourage all residents to become more familiar with the finances of this beautiful community by attending one of our meetings. At the beginning of each meeting, we allow three minutes per homeowner not to exceed 30 minutes in total for comments. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Jolene Cooley at joleneaudit@gmail.com. ~ Jolene Cooley At our October general meeting, we focused on volunteerism. Representatives from Faith in Action of the San Gorgonio Pass, Carol's Kitchen, San Gorgonio Pass Historical Society, and the Beaumont Police Department shared with us the services they provide along with opportunities in which residents can become involved. Please plan on attending our next Community Awareness meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 10 am in e Lodge Ballroom. STAY WELL WITH RESPIRATORY VACCINATIONS e following tips on helping to prevent respiratory illnesses with winter immunizations are provided by pharmacist Linda R. Bernstein, Pharm.D: ere are three immunizations available for the fall and winter season to help your immune system ght major respiratory viral diseases: u, COVID-19, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). e Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) emphasizes that, based on age, pregnancy status, medical condition and risk group, immunization provides the best protection for lowering the risk of serious illness, hospitalizations, long-range complications, and death. Vaccine side eects tend to be mild and short-lived. Be sure to mention your allergies before use. Here's a look at the available vaccines: Flu Vaccine: People ages six months and older, unless advised otherwise, should get an updated u vaccine annually. High dose and enhanced vaccines are recommended for people 65 years and older. Ask your physician which is best for you. COVID-19: COVID-19 vaccine dosing is based on age, immune status, and vaccine history. People ages ve and older are eligible to receive one dose of the updated COVID-19 vaccine to keep your vaccinations up-to-date and protect against serious illness, including long COVID. Note: Some age and patient groups may require additional doses. RSV: RSV is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms. It can be dangerous, however, for babies, toddlers, and older adults. Parents, pregnant women, and older adults should develop an RSV prevention plan with their healthcare provider. e CDC recommends an RSV vaccine for ages 75 and older and for people who are 60 to 74 and at increased risk of RSV – please check with your health care provider to see if this pertains to your health status. It is best to get vaccinated in the late summer and early fall before RSV starts to spread. For more information on the best options, doses, and timing, contact your health care provider or pharmacist, or visit CDC.gov. Reducing your risk of respiratory illness: e University of California, San Francisco, provides the following tips to reduce your risk of respiratory illness: • Stay home if you have a fever or are experiencing u symptoms. • Stay home until you are fever-free for at least 24 hours unless you need medical care. • Cover your mouth and nose with tissue when coughing or sneezing. • Wash your hands oen with soap water.
