28 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | NOVEMBER 2024 ATTENTION ALL FOUR SEASONS DOG OWNERS! The Canine Corral Committee is hosting our annual "Yappy Hour" on Thursday, Nov. 7, from 4 to 6 pm in the Game Room at The Lodge (humans only). There will be wine and snacks and, of course, raff le prizes. This event is open to all residents, but especially those who have dogs and may not yet be members of the Corral. This is a great opportunity to speak to our current members to see if perhaps joining the Corral would be of benefit to their dog. We will have membership applications available at the Yappy Hour, or you can pick up an application from The Lodge front desk. Hope to see many of you on Nov. 7. Cooler weather is finally settling in. This means that it will allow our canine friends more playtime without worrying about the heat in the middle of the day. We still have our regular group times on Saturday and Sunday mornings beginning at 8 am for the remainder of the winter months, but the Corral is open for everyone's enjoyment from dawn to dusk. Please come and join us on these weekend get-togethers or arrange other play dates with your dog's favorite friends. We would love to have some of our Corral members join our committee, so if you are interested in volunteering your time, or just interested in how our committee functions, please come to one of our monthly meetings held on the first Thursday of each month at 10 am in the RCN Conference Room. Our meetings are typically one hour so as not to interfere with our enjoyment of the many other activities we can choose from here at Four Seasons. ~ Lynn Jahnke, lynnj92223@gmail.com Canine Corral Landscape Committee e Green Heart of Four Seasons: Our Hidden Gems In the bustling world of senior communities, green spaces are the unsung heroes, offering a sanctuary of tranquility and health. Here at Four Seasons we can step out into lush gardens to enjoy the scent of blooming f lowers with the rustle of leaves from our 4,000 trees providing a soothing backdrop. Our green havens are more than just pretty spots; they are vital for the well-being of our residents playing a vital role in promoting physical health. They encourage us to engage in light exercise maintaining our mobility and cardio health. Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. In essence, green spaces are the heart of senior communities, nurturing both body and soul. They provide a refreshing escape from the indoors, promoting a healthier, happier lifestyle. I love the outdoors. I especially love trees. I also love walking so you can see how I was immediately attracted to our community and its landscape design that was perfect for those of us who love a good stroll, a bit of birdwatching, or just appreciate the absolute beauty and variety of foliage. With our miles of scenic walking trails and the dedicated conservancy, we have plenty of occasions to stretch your legs or just sit and take in what nature has to offer. Your Landscape Committee is dedicated to maintaining the lush environment that attracted us to the Four Seasons — we are a breath of fresh air in more ways than one. You probably know a lot about our trails A, B, C, & D. But have you ever walked our Paseo or rested in one of our Pocket Parks. There are several areas we call our "hidden gems." These are spaces that our planners turned what might have been unusable areas into serene and picturesque escapes. To get specific: Mock Bluff Pocket Park, situated on Mock Bluff, serves as an excellent spot for gatherings with friends or family. While the park features benches, it lacks picnic tables, so it is advisable to bring along a blanket or chairs for comfort. Lucinda Terrace Pocket Park can be found on Lucinda Terrace and offers another wonderful venue for socializing. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by beautiful landscaping, making it one of the larger pocket parks that provides scenic views of parts of the Conservancy. Julie Donavon Moore Pocket Park, located on Julie Donavon Moore, is a quaint space that overlooks the entrance to Breckenridge Gate. This park is ideal for casual meetups with friends or simply unwinding in a small, serene environment. Stellar Peak Pocket Park, found on Stellar Peak, is a picturesque location perfect for relaxation and tranquility. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the San Andreas Mountains, which resemble the iconic Rushmore Peak, (hence the name). The Paseo, the first hidden gem developed within the community, was a key selling point for homes in Four Seasons. There are two entrances to this area: one from Salt Creek and the other from Lewis Creek. The Paseo is exceptionally beautiful and offers a peaceful atmosphere making it a perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine with friends. This is an actual park where you can walk a short path and enjoy exceptional landscaping. View this area during the spring or summertime and you will not be disappointed. Lastly, the concealed walking path on White Sands can be accessed by making an immediate left after turning onto White Sands. After parking, a short walk towards the hill reveals a breathtaking area with a few benches for relaxation. This park is home to numerous butterf lies, rabbits, and unique bird species, making it an ideal location for inviting a couple of friends for wine or enjoying a good book. It is perhaps the most hidden gem and a personal favorite. ~ Cathy Goldsmith & Kathryn Hughes, kathryn.hughes@ fsresidential.com
