36 | THE COLONY NEWS | NOVEMBER 2024 | The Petal Pushers Garden Club is excited to bring back Veronica Guzman, owner of Garden Vibes Succulents. She will be joining us on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 10 am in the Auditorium. In the past, Veronica did a pumpkin and driftwood project and supplied all the materials. This project is different. Veronica will teach us how to create our own succulent containers, guiding us through the steps. We are asking you to bring an empty pot of your choice which needs planting or replanting. You must be able to carry the dirt- filled pot when you leave. We just do not want giant pots. Veronica will bring the dirt and succulents. This is a hands-on experience, so please bring gloves if you want to save your nails. Veronica will bring a few pots, which you may purchase, but I am not sure how many she is bringing. The fee for this project is $10 plus the cost of the succulents used. I will be at a table in the Clubhouse on Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 10 am to noon; Thursday, Nov. 7, from 9 to 11 am; Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 10 am to noon; Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 10 am to noon; and Friday, Nov. 15, from 10 am to noon to collect the $10 (cash only) presentation fee. Payment for the succulents will be on Nov.19. Veronica would prefer cash but will also accept checks and debit cards. Small succulents are $1 and medium-sized succulents are $4. Here is an example of what can be done. I took a small planter to Veronica. She transformed it in a few minutes. She used 1 medium plant and 4 small plants. While Veronica worked on my planter, she shared where she placed her first plant in the arrangement and why she chose that place. For my container, it had to do with the shape of the container. It is holiday time, and these would be a great host/hostess gift, gift for a friend, or you can treat yourself. Below are photos of various arrangement ideas. Petal Pushers Garden Club By Gloria Brosky If you enjoy ping pong, fun and friendly competition, come join us. If you want to improve or keep up on your fitness, reflexes and hand- eye coordination, come join us. Ping pong is fast-moving and exciting! Come on down to the Auditorium on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, from 1 to 4 pm, and see what we are talking about. Ping Pong By Lisa Schrader, 714-814-4543
