San Jacinto College (28237 La Piedra Road). Take photos with Santa, help countdown the lighting of the tree, play in the snow, and do so much more! Wander through the lights to do your holiday shopping with local craft and business vendors and enjoy tasty treats from a variety of food vendors. Fall Shred Fest The City of Menifee invites residents to participate in the next Community Shredding Event on Sat., Nov. 2, from 8 to 11 am at City Hall (29844 Haun Road). Held twice yearly, this free, drive-through event allows residents to safely dispose of unwanted paper by using an on-site shredding truck that shreds documents immediately. Residents are asked to bring proof of residency and up to three banker boxes (or equivalent) of letter/legal-sized materials for shredding. For safety and convenience, participants are encouraged to remain in their vehicles while staff assists with unloading boxes. Boxes should be free of binder clips and metal or plastic bindings. Bulky Item drop off The City of Menifee will be hosting a FREE bulky item drop-off event at the Sun City Civic Association (26601 Cherry Hills Boulevard) on Sat., Nov. 16, from 8 am to 12 pm (or until bins are full). Please bring a photo I.D. or proof of residency to utilize this service. This is a great way to help keep Menifee clean and remove unwanted clutter. This event is just one of our four bulky item events per year! For this specific event, only bulky items will be accepted - no tires, electronics, or mulch. If you can't make it to this drop-off event, remember Menifee Waste Management (WM) customers are entitled to four FREE bulky item pick-ups annually. Prohibited items: batteries; bleach, tub, or tile cleaner; construction waste; empty drums; engines/motor parts; explosives/ammunition; fertilizer/herbicides; fluorescent tubes; gasoline/diesel fuel; hazardous waste; infectious waste; latex or oil parts; medications; motor oil; pool chemicals; propane tanks; sharps; tires. Trot for a cause Get ready to jump, climb, crawl, slide, run, and laugh your way through this 5K Fun Run! Trot for a Cause will take place on Sat., Nov. 23, from 9 am to 12 pm at Santa Rosa Academy (27587 La Piedra Road). The City of Menifee has put together a variety of FUN obstacles including inflatables, color bombs, mazes, tire runs, potato sack races, and more to keep you smiling the whole way through. In addition to a $10 registration fee, the donation of four canned goods per participant is required. All food donations will benefit the Menifee Community Cupboard. Holiday Closures: City of Menifee facilities will be closed on Mon., Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day and on urs., Nov. 28 and Fri., Nov. 29 in observance of anksgiving veterans day Join us to celebrate and honor the veterans in our community on Mon., Nov. 11 from 10 am to 12 pm, at Hidden Hills Park (31727 Eaton Lane). This family-friendly event will include special presentations, veteran recognition, and speeches. Veterans and families can also explore local resources and meet service providers.
