4 | SUN CITY CORE COURIER | NOVEMBER 2024 | By Norma Zermeno, General Manager I hope everyone is well. Thankfully, we have very minimal construction on campus. We have refurbished the Memorial area, including the waterfall/fountain and landscape. It is more serene and is the perfect area for reflection. In refurbishing the Memorial area, we are now able to accommodate addition of Memorial Bricks for Veterans. If you are interested in purchasing and customizing a brick, please visit the office to view the costs and to place an order. We need a minimum of five bricks ordered to begin the process and will take up to 12 weeks to receive. Once the brick is received, we will install it at the Memorial area. There are a few events coming up: • Our Annual All Clubs Social on Nov. 16 will be held in Webb & North Halls. Come out to see all the clubs that are on campus. Please refer to the flyer in this Courier for details. • The City of Menifee will hold a bulky item drop off here on campus on Nov. 16 in the parking lot in front of Billiards/Civic Hall. Please refer to the flyer in this Courier for details • Thanksgiving Dinner delivery will be Nov. 18 to those in need/ shut-ins. This year, 250 dinners will be delivered. Please refer to the article in this Courier for details • A sit-down, formal Christmas Dinner will be held on Dec. 7. If you sign up for this dinner, you cannot sign up for the Christmas meal delivery later in December. Please refer to the flyer in this Courier for details Since the Courier articles are a month in advance, we will publish the Halloween pictures in the upcoming issue. I hope to see you at one of these events! The Dueling Pianos event was great (photo below)! We had a sold out crowd and almost everyone was dancing and singing. We will be sure to have them back next year! We held a very successful Town Hall with the City of Menifee Mayoral and District 1 candidates (photo above). Very interesting information was provided by each candidate. The County Registrar of Voters will be in the Trophy Room for you to vote and drop off ballots. Please get out and vote! Unfortunately, the Farmer's Market that was being held on campus had to shut down because there was no market manager. The Association did not want to take over the task of managing vendors, the Health Department, the City, the Fire Department, payments etc. It was a great run, and we are thankful it was held here. A big THANK YOU to The Senior Knitters & Crocheters of Menifee. They have donated handmade 200 — yes, 200! — afghans, lapgans, and small blankets. We will hand them out to those in need/shut-ins during the Thanksgiving delivery, and some will be used as a raffle for the sit-down Christmas Dinner. Please thank them if you get the time! Do me a favor, thank a Veteran! I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving! General Manager's Message Happy Thanksgiving
