| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | NOVEMBER 2024 | 7 "I ink I Shall Never See A Poem Lovely As A Tree" * The Landscape Committee routinely receives landscape maintenance requests for removal of trees primarily in our Legends neighborhoods. Most of these requests are not approved since the trees do not meet the established tree removal policy. The requests are typically made by homeowners who feel that the trees, principally pine trees, are too messy since they drop pine needles, pine cones, and sometimes pitch. The pine trees were planted by the community developer, K. Hovanian. They are a part of the overall Four Seasons community landscape plan - the lush and lovely environment that drew many of us to purchase our homes in this extraordinary location. The trees also cool the environment, absorb carbon, produce oxygen, provide shade in the heat of summer, as well as add to the beauty of our neighborhoods. It is not only the pine trees that concern some of our homeowners, but flowering trees as well. Consider the degradation of our Four Seasons community if these trees were removed simply because some consider them to be a nuisance. What would result would be a barren, hot, and certainly less attractive, and less valuable community. The Landscape Committee does understand the additional time and maintenance that can be needed for those who live near the pine trees as well as other flowering trees. As part of our on-going effort to protect our valuable landscape investment in Four Seasons, trees are routinely trimmed since they have grown to a more mature stature. Pine trees, in particular, are trimmed every three years, with one-third of the pines trimmed each year. Tree trimming is scheduled to begin in November this year. The Landscape Committee wants to thank each of our homeowners who take the extra initiative to care for their properties near these lovely trees. *Joyce Kilmer "Trees" 1913 Landscape Committee
