| LIFE IN SOLERA | DECEMBER 2024 | 39 GOLF CLUB Our Christmas and Annual Club Meeting Party is Sat., Dec. 7 from 6 to 9 pm in the Clubhouse Oakmont Rooms! The Solera Golf Club welcomes George Dietz into the club. George and his wife, Amy, came to Solera from Columbus, Ohio. George retired as a School Teacher while Amy is a retired Registered Nurse. While new to the Golf Club, they've been Solera residents since 2020 and are also active in pickleball and bocce ball. November opened with a Twosomes Shambles game with Kelly Bock and Marty Anderson firing a net 64. They were four shots clear of three teams that tied for second place. They were Dave Sampson/ Tom Hamerla, Stan Whitesel/Bob Ardis, and Bill Luftkin/Gary Stange. The CP winners were: No. 4 - Tom Hamerla 13' 10", No. 7 - Gary Stange 19' 0", No. 14 - Dave Duncanson 8' 4", and No. 17 - Stan Whitesel 23' 7". The Lone Ranger game fell on the fourth Tuesday in October. Even though some had it tough out there, Duncanson and Ray Smith had two great shots in the par 3s closest to the pin competition with their shots of 1' 1" and 3' 5" respectively while Dick Martin and Bob Umeck won the other two holes. In the team game the foursome of John Dockery, Duncanson, George Dietz and Ed Young finished with an 11 under par snatch first place ahead of Umeck, Jerry Stearn, Bock, and Walter Stempien's eight under par. Another stroke back were Whitesel, Stange, Craig Martin and Jesse Mendez. The third week in October was a beautiful day to be on the golf course that Tuesday with some really good scores. Mike Davis won the Low Gross A flight with a 78 and finished Birdie Birdie on 17 and 18. Young won the Low Gross B Flight with a 88. Low Net A Flight was a tie for 1st between Dockery and Whitesel with a Net 75, while D Martin finished 1st in the B Flight with a 3 under Net 69. CP honors went to Duncanson with 2 CP's while Anderson and Whitesel collected the other 2 par three holes. As we rolled into the second week of October, the club's games were Individual Net Skins and CPs where Stempien and Jaime Maciel stole the show. Walter led the skins game with two skins while Jaime captured two CP's when he zeroed-in on par 3 holes no. 2 and 8. Additionally there were two natural birdies, Stempien (no. 10) and Bob Marks (no. 12). Kudos to Walter, Jaime and Bob. Our newest club member, George Dietz Coming in for the grab If at 1st you don't succeed… and Gary Stange wonders why he loses to many golf balls! Our study in the group will explore the Asanas (yoga poses), Restorative and Nidra yoga, breathing, chakra balancing, meditation, achieving harmony and healthy eating. And possibly other topics of interest to the group. Multiple studies show that yoga practice can have positive eects on cellular aging, mobility, balance, mental health, and prevention of cognitive decline-all areas of concern for older adults. e group is all inclusive and will adapt for those who haven't tried yoga to those experienced yogis.
