6 | LIFE IN SOLERA | DECEMBER 2024 |
Curb Appeal Feature
December has arrived, ready or not, and
many residents are showing their holiday spirit
through beautiful outdoor decorations. Take
a drive through the community to admire the
festive displays. Just remember, as per the DRC
Guidelines (5.11), all December decorations
must be removed by Jan. 10.
Another indicator of December is the
dormant grass and plants. It's important not
to overwater during this time, as it can lead to
fungal infections. Overwatering not only harms
your landscaping but also adds unnecessary
costs to your BCVWD bill. During the winter
months, aim to water your grass once or twice a
week. Watering twice during the early morning,
with 5 minutes per cycle and a 60-minute gap
between cycles, allows the water to soak in
effectively. This method is more beneficial than
a quick 10-minute watering session.
If it rains, be sure to turn off your watering
system for a while to avoid unnecessary
water usage. If you need help adjusting your
watering schedule, reach out to your gardener
or neighbor for assistance. By being mindful of
your watering habits, you can avoid costly water
bills during the winter season.
