| SUN CITY CORE COURIER | DECEMBER 2024 | 13 WOODSHOP CLASSES BEGIN IN THE NEW YEAR: The Woodshop is starting to schedule classes for 2025. All the classes we do are appropriate for anyone who has little to no woodworking experience. You will always finish any of our classes with a beautiful project that you will be very proud of. There is a charge for classes, which covers the cost of wood, supplies, and instruction. Some of the classes we will be scheduling include Cutting Board, Lathe, Scroll Saw, and Sign Making. Stop by the Woodshop to add your name to a sign-up sheet for a class or classes that you might be interested in taking. The photo at left shows Woodshop member Katherine Gomez who took the Scroll Saw class and made a beautiful cross. She is a new member to the Woodshop and had no woodworking experience until she signed up and took the Scroll Saw class. Great job, Katherine! Keep up the great work. Hope to see many of you stop by the Woodshop. We are open Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 2 pm, and Saturdays, 8:30 am to 12 pm. Woodshop's 2nd Annual Toy Drive: Everyone is invited to participate in the Woodshop's 2nd Annual Toy Drive for the 2024 Christmas season. The picture above is from last year's first toy drive that got a late start but was still a success. We are hoping to make Christmas brighter for even more children this year, so we are inviting anyone that might be able to participate and help to make this a huge success. You do not have to be a Woodshop member to participate. There will be a large box, wrapped in Christmas paper and located inside the Woodshop, where toys can be donated for a child. The Woodshop is asking for new unwrapped toys that are for a child, between the ages of newborn to 17-years-old. This toy drive started in November and will run through Dec. 13. Last year, the Woodshop delivered all toys to the Menifee Police Department to help with their toy drive. At the time this article had to be submitted to the Core Courier, a decision had not been made as to which charity Santa's elves would be delivering all the donated toys to. The name of the chosen charity organization will be posted on the box inside the Woodshop, so you will know where your generous donation will be going. The goal of the Woodshop is to bring a smile to the face of many children on Christmas morning. We thank you all in advance for any donations made. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all.
